The Bear of North Moreton is a welcoming village pub in North Moreton, South Oxfordshire that dates back to the 16th century and has always been the heart of the village. We offer a humble menu of traditional home-cooked pub dishes, using the best local producers and seasonal ingredients. We serve a range of ales, beer, and cider and have a small and curated wine list.

There’s a large beer garden that backs onto the village cricket pitch, and we hope to open up the Aunt Sally pitch soon.

All staff were lovely, we had a great meal in a really nice setting. Overall enjoyed it and will come back.

We chose the Bear for its menu and the mainly positive reviews but were disappointed that the menu available to us when we visited was only the basic one because the chef was on holiday. We hadn't been told this in advance. We chose from the basic menu and 2 of our party chose fish and chips but they both found the fish tasteless, to be fair the staff apologised and gave them a complimentary dessert. The other 2 main courses (cheese burger and ham, egg and chips) were good, the chips in particular were very tasty.

Booked at short notice and had prompt response. Very accommodating with two guests with mobility issues. Delightful staff - very helpful with parking and attentive during service. Delicious Sunday lunch and puddings, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and we look forward to returning to try the other menu. Only criticism from 94 year old guest was that it was difficult to hold a conversation because of the background noise level - not that she is at all deaf!

Very average pub food at higher than average prices, evening rescued by the attentive and friendly service. Wine and beer was good at reasonable prices

Don't mess with the classics. Tartar sauce needs to taste like tartar sauce, not garlic and given that tartar sauce is pretty crucial to fish and chips (especially £21 fish and chips), this was a big disappointment. Fish was lovely but spoiled by lack of tartar sauce-tasting tartar sauce. Cheese Burger patty was over-seasoned and over-cooked. Let the meat be the star... Very long wait for food after order was made - clearly not enough staff for a busy service. Overall, food was OK but prices were gastropub premium. Underwhelmed.

Lovely 18th birthday celebration meal with the family. Not too busy, attentive staff and great tasting food. Prices on the higher side but paying for quality. Would very much recommend.

Great food and superb service in pleasant atmosphere at a cosy traditional pub. Try the Hollygog pudding - beautiful but not for the faint hearted!
