The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon adheres to a similar message.

In the kitchen, we value the fashion from scratch details as small as the aiolis and dressings we use, to the housemade desserts and pastries, cured and smoked meats, and naturally fermented pickles. Behind the bar, we strive for innovation and discovery from our unique and inspiring cocktails. We work within the seasons of the Blue Ridge to present a deliberate and thoughtful menu. We love the intentional, the specific, the well-cared-for.

Respectively, our market offers a unique selection of local goods and treats. From our featured cloister honey to housemade single origin chocolates, we present the craft and exceptionality of local, artisanal talent.

At 9:30pm, we dim the overheads, and light the candles. There is space suggestive of dancing, and we serve snacks from a special late night menu. From the bar, we offer all the usual suspects, and highlight prohibition era cocktails. Todd Wright, Director of Jazz Studies at Appalachian State University, leads this rotating group of adept musicians in THE Jazz Jam.

App and salads were great but entrees were so so and all waitresses seem to be in another world, on their phones etc. I would still recommend but mangers need to educate servers..also fresh silverware was brought to table and put directly on table with no napkin..that was a turn off

The Beacon is most certainly the best fine dining restaurant in Boone. Upscale ambience, really great locally sourced offerings and excellent knowledgeable service. We had a superb meal there for our anniversary. It is one of a trio of restaurants by the same owner. We’ve been to Betty’s Biscuits on King Street in Old Town. Our great experience there led us to the Beacon. Next we’re off to Reid’s Cafe at Tynecastle near Sugar Mountain.

The food was very good as usual, took an out of town friend and the Beacon did not disappoint! This has become one of our go to favorites. Cocktails were good. Service was very good Tyhra did a nice job for us.
