The Bateman Arms was built c.1750 by Sir James Bateman (Lord Mayor Of London) as a building where his Estate workers would collect on pay day. Over the years it became a staging post for weary Drovers to refresh themselves as they walked livestock from West Wales to markets in Birmingham and London.

Today, Mike Pope and his team provide a warm welcome to both locals and the many business and leisure visitors who travel to the Marches throughout the year. Serving a rustic menu packed with pub classics and other items such as freshly baked pizzas, we have something for everyone to enjoy. With the rural splendour of Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Mid Wales on the doorstep, there's plenty to discover!

    Brilliant pub, never had a bad meal here. Staff are so friendly and attentive. And the best thing is they are super dog friendly so your 4 legged friend is always welcome. Love the different nights they have on offer and the new menu items are brilliant

    Would definitely recommend Food was really lovely and hot Service was good and the house white wine was excellent.

    I had the belly pork it had no taste veg was ok apart from the cabbage too hard toasties ok my wife had the beef she said it was hard to cut and took chewy
