We serve tasty and fresh sandwiches for those looking for a lighter lunch. We also offer a full and comprehensive menu for those wanting a more substantial meal. Our standard menu is accompanied by our Special Board, which details additional meals that we change throughout the month.

We pride ourselves on our menu as we make full use, where possible, of seasonal produce and look to source as much as possible from local Peak District and Derbyshire suppliers.

Much of our meat is supplied from Castlegate Stud Farm, in Stoney Middleton.

Without fail, whatever you choose from the menu is always delicious. Really good food, beautifully cooked and well presented. Staff are always courteous, friendly and efficient. We recommend to everyone! Love it.

Lovely food, well presented. A little gem in fantastic surroundings. This was our second visit & looking forward to working our way through the menu.

Ordered some nibbles to start. These arrived to be immediately followed by our main course. So never had the chance to eat them until later by which time they were cold and soggy. Did mention this to staff but were still charged for everything. Shame as main courses cooked nicely but this spoilt the evening. Felt like we were just being rushed.

I ordered the butternut squash risotto with feta… it was delicious, as was the sticky toffee pudding… both vegetarian

We had a very pleasant experience at the Barrel. The food was exceptional, from a menu that was varied and well put together. The business has been obviously well invested in over the years, as it is many years since, that I first visited the Barrel. I have recommended to friends and family and will put this high on my list of “worth visiting” Derbyshire pubs. Thank you to the staff, who were excellent 👍

The beef pie was delicious. Steak burger nice, difficult to eat of a wooden tray. Attentive staff. Nice atmosphere. Overall a very pleasant experience. Views from outside the pub fabulous.

When asked if we would like water for the table we didn't expect to be charged £5 for the bottle. We wrongly assumed it would be tap water.
