The Barn is a “meat-centric hideaway” housed in a 19th century brick barn hidden away down an alley in the middle of Evanston. A homage to owner Amy Morton’s legendary father, restaurateur Arnie Morton (Morton’s Steakhouse), the menu boasts the finest quality ingredients available including table-side salad service and prime heritage Angus steaks. The intimate spot is accessible only through the alley and features soaring ceilings.

Featured in the Chicago Tribune and Evanston Now, The Barn is situated in a 19th century building, which was once a horse stable. Its entrance is accessible through the back alleyway for a unique experience. This eatery also provides seating for up to 80 guests and has high ceilings for an open feel.

We have been dining at the Barn for years. Always consistent. Friendly knowledgable waitstaff, well prepared creative food. Nice drink portions. You have to try a side dish of Brussels sprouts. Exceptional

Nice ambiance. Very good service. We Had dry aged bone in prime rib which was ok.. my wife had the fish which was dry not moist. The giant prawn was good. French onion soup was tasty and the ceviche was very tasty. We may try the Barn again but for a $200 tab before tip there are other great steak restaurants I’d go to

We had a fabulous dinner. We got there early so our whole table had the fixed price menu, all courses were delicious.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. Great cocktails, the server suggested a very nice wine, but the food was just okay and very expensive. Nothing wowed me. The experience was fine. I wouldn’t recommend it at those prices.

The food didn’t come close to living up to the pricing. Beautiful atmosphere, but for a “steakhouse” the steaks were sub-average at best. It’s been my 3rd or 4th time there and I am always wowed by the atmosphere and underwhelmed by the food quality.

Once we found the restaurant (a bit tricky, down an alley...), we really enjoyed our birthday celebration at the Barn Steakhouse. The food was fantastic -- highly recommend the Salmon with Cucumber Salad and the Pecan Streusel Carrot Cake! Our server was delightful (can't remember her name, but she's getter her Masters in music at Northwestern). Thank you for a great evening.

We were a party of 8 and enjoyed our experience at The Barn. The service was great, and the food was delicious. The Barn is a great date spot.

Is there a trend that seafood is being served undercooked? If I had known, I would ordered my halibut well done rather than the gelatinous blob I received. My companions were there for the steak, and the waiter assured me that the seafood was excellent. He said something to the effect of "flaky perfection." NOT. The accompanying crust and sauce were overly salted, which cannot make up for the lack of flavor. The service was excellent, though, and it was an upbeat holiday weekend, so I enjoyed the evening despite my disappointing meal.
