The Barn Owl in Exeter is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

The Barn Owl has been built from reclaimed materials salvaged from older buildings, creating a distinctive & unique setting in which to eat and drink. We sit on the area that was the ancient district of The Wonford Hundred, an area with a long history of agricultural and handicraft.

Set on the outskirts of Exeter, The Barn Owl is well placed for exploring the local attractions. The city centre has been designated as an Area of Archaeological Importance. There are 15 conservation areas and over 1600 listed buildings.

Despite arriving 30 mins early we were seated straight away, and drinks arrived very quickly. Impressed with the variety of the sunday menu. We all had different roasts and they were outstanding. I had the triple platter of Beef, Pork and Turkey. Great veg too, at least 3 of our 5 ! Pudding selection was great too, I could have had at least three. Chose the Apple and Rhubarb Crumble with Hot Custard to complete my 5. Great value too, about £28 a head including 2 pints. Not to forget the friendly and attentive staff.

Second time I have eaten here good menu with well presented food good selection of wine by the glass. Ham hock was delicious starter of scallop and prawn in garlic not as expected and overpriced peeled prawns were not tasty. Nice cosy restaurant lovely decor and ambience good for visitors staying Holiday inn recommend booking in advance.

We had a family get together, all found the food very good, and a nice relaxed ambience. we would visit again.

Have been to the Barn Owl many times before, but at the moment there seems to be a real positive change going on. Food is excellent, the staff are friendly and engaging and the setting as always is nice. I am impressed most by the change in atmosphere around the place. The staff seem very committed to providing a top class service.
