The Bailiwick Free House has opened under the leadership of Steven Ellis previously of The Oxford Blue in Old Windsor with his wife Ami as head pastry chef. Nestled on the gates of The Windsor Great Park, The Bailiwick will be a gastronomic destination for locals and visitors to enjoy the very best produce that this naturally plentiful area has to offer. Steven’s training under the tutelage of Clare Smyth MBE at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has enabled him to offer a sophisticated twist on familiar dishes.

Unfortunately, the menu has not changed since we started visiting The Bailiwick. There was obviously a shortage of staff as each course took a very long time to arrive. I ordered chips with my main course which were, obviously, forgotten but when they did arrive were inedible as they were undercooked. I am vegan but each time I eat here there is never any protein in my meal…. Such a disappointment as we took two sets of friends with us.

First visit to this lovely pub on the edge of Virginia Water. We had a Sunday roast. Food was excellent, some of us had starter & main, others had main & pudding. Fabulous food, great drinks and the staff were lovely & attentive. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day. What a find. We will be back.

The dining experience was fantastic from the start. Great food and cocktails. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

Exceptionally warm and friendly welcome. Great menu and good value. Beware, the 'bites' are enough for starters, especially the delicious venison bonbons. Excellent and well-priced wine list with 500ml carafe options as well as bottles. Parking can be challenging but nevertheless highly recommended.

Loved every second of our lunch yesterday. Nothing to fault at all a perfect complete experience. The Venison Pastrami is the best outside of North American in my opinion and being from those parts I have experience with the good and the bad. Service is awesome and super friendly. Thanks for my special something at the end of the meal very special

Not been for a while but nothing changes. Perfect welcome from Lewis and Johnnie, table ready with water bowl for Freddie! Lots of delights on the menu, as always.

We’re so happy that we chose the Bailiwick to celebrate a family birthday over dinner. The staff were excellent and the food was also excellent. Overall a faultless experience — we will be back again for sure.

The most delicious food, very efficient, friendly and knowledgable staff. The menu is just perfect, covers all options without being too much. Fresh unusual flavours that are a joy, and the dessert was orgasmic ! Highly recommend
