The Back Street is a first floor restaurant in the heart of Dumfries town centre. With an ever-changing menu full of locally sourced ingredients, chef & owner William Wakefield along with his wife Suzanne and their team are sure to have something for you. Try the signature Haggis Scotch Egg, a mouth watering steak, or perhaps some locally sourced Venison. Elderflower & Vodka Parfait for dessert? Yes Please! 3rd visit. Love coming here when in Dumfries. Amazing food from a great menu served with a smile…and it won’t break the back either, can’t wait to return.

I was in with my husband last night ,Service was excellent as was the food , always a lovely relaxed atmosphere when we are in , it's one of my favourite places to eat and enjoy a drink , your never rushed either and the wait in between courses is perfect too , definitely recommend here and absolutely will be back again .

We were in for steak night. The whole experience was fantastic. Great, attentive staff and the food was exceptional. Very good value as well.

We both had the salmon...which was very very good....we made a change and chef was more than happy to accommodate Thank you so much Chef.....the desserts we chose( bannoffee pot and pavlova) were delicious Definitely one of the best places to eat..

Very good meal and pleasant helpful staff. Felt there could be more or cheaper sides included though as there was no veg with steaks just chips and it cost £4.50 for some buttered greens, £3.50 for pepper sauce and £4 for onion rings which adds a lot to the bill. The only real downside that stops us going more often though is the noise level, when it is full you can hardly have a conversation with others across the table. Some soft furnishings would help. We all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals though, compliments to the chef
