The Back Street is a first floor restaurant in the heart of Dumfries town centre. With an ever-changing menu full of locally sourced ingredients, chef & owner William Wakefield along with his wife Suzanne and their team are sure to have something for you. Try the signature Haggis Scotch Egg, a mouth watering steak, or perhaps some locally sourced Venison. Elderflower & Vodka Parfait for dessert? Yes Please! Really sorry to write this review but we were disappointed with our meal on Friday28th June. My meal was fish and the chips were not very appetizing to look at some looked overcooked and others under cooked. My husband ordered the lamb and he had to ask for a steak knife to cut the meat as it was tough. Tasty but tough. this was our 3rd visit at this restaurant, the previous two were very good, not sure if we would visit again.

We had a rare spare evening to ourselves so decided to have a nice meal out together ( date night ) Starters were fab - haggis Scotch egg and baked Brie. We both had half a jerk chicken. Absolutely yummy scrummy. We’ve been before and highly recommend it value for money and good food

Just a great place to eat. It’s in a lovely building with a bit of a New York converted warehouse vibe going on. Great central location. We went on Friday 31st May 2024 and the place was busy, That made for a great atmosphere. Service was very efficient but also warm and personal. Food menu isn’t extensive but it is focused and whatever you choose is beautifully presented and very tasty. Big shout out goes to the haggis Scotch egg starter that both of my companions chose, which was a thing of beauty and described by them as outstandingly tasty. Everything about the place hit the mark and I can thoroughly recommend it to you 👍
