After visiting this venue many times over many years we can only describe our latest visit as bang average and quite comically. We had our order taken within 5 mins and then we waited and waited and waited. After an hour we politely asked where our food was and this then seemed to cause total confusion between the service team! After being told that it would be resolved within 10 minutes we were brought over a plate of 3 tapas. No cutlery was brought over. After 5 mins I politely complained again and it then became apparent that the young waitress had totally forgotten to place our order! Then 2 roast dinners arrived which wasn’t ours either …. Both dinner’s were returned to the kitchen. It was then that the tapas (still minus cutlery until I collected my own) was then removed and our order retaken. This was 90 mins after our arrival. When the food finally arrived it was so disappointing, frozen tapas with a spicy sauce on top of the bravas that would ignite any local volcano! The team to their credit did apologise to us but if honest we shan’t be eating there again after many years of quality it’s sadly dropped the ball …..

Haven’t been to The Angel for over a year and decided to go Saturday evening with my husband. Sat outside which was nicely set out. The menu has changed somewhat. Now more basic pub food. I ordered the sirloin steak (Medium - pink but no blood) plus extra side of vegetables. My husband ordered the quarter pounder burger with all the trimmings. The food arrived without the extra vegetables. But I said to leave it. I could also see straight away my steak was not medium. It was completely well done. No pink showing at all. The waitress was lovely though, apologising and taking it away. Once the new piece of steak arrived, it was much more tender looking but still definitely well done. I couldn’t be bothered to return that as well so just ate it. My husband’s burger was okay. When the waitress collected the plates and asked if it was okay. I did say it was still well done and the waitress apologised. Sadly we won’t be returning

Always a pleasure. Food always good, tasty and hot. And the servers are really helpful. Would recommend again and again.

Very comfortable dining area and all the staff were very pleasant. The menu was comprehensive with an excellent choice of food. Will definitely eat there again.

When we arrived there was a queue at the bar .. 3 staff at a till with back to the bar, one looked round at the queue turned back and ignored everyone… eventually deciding to serve people. When we was waiting to order a caught the eye of the waitress who dismissed me saying I’ll be there presently and carried on chatting to her colleague .. the whole evening the staff treated all the guests as if they were an inconvenience and should be grateful for any service they got

Good evening Anthony. Your timeline: 5:50 arrived 5.51 sat down 5:51:40 menus given 5:54 drinks put on table 6:01 order taken (food arrived at 6:30, I did at the time say that there may be a wait as all 3 tables wanted to order at once). The kitchen opens during the week at 6pm. At the time you were waving at us to take your order the two other tables had already sat before you so was only fair to take their order first. No one at the bar when you arrived, two gentlemen behind you. 2 members of staff not 3. One daytime member handing over to the evening member, another member arriving at 5:57pm. I would really appreciate you contacting us to help us improve on our timings or to enlighten us as to where we went wrong with your visit.

Unfortunately a lot of the menu was unavailable so very disappointed. I appreciate things run out, but a lot more unavailable than expected

Good evening Alison and thank you for your review. I am a little puzzled tho!! I was working in the kitchen last night and the only item that was unavailable was the Salmon? The rest of the mains menu was available to order. On the dessert menu we were missing the treacle sponge which was unavailable as the new dessert menu started today and this is no longer an option. We had also run out of chocolate ice cream. I am therefore finding it hard to understand why you was so very disappointed and how you came to the conclusion that there was a lot of menu unavailable. Please contact us to discuss further should you wish.

We visit this pub many times and it is our go to place with family and friends. It would be almost impossible to find a pub which is perfect in every way but I think that we have achieved it. The building is delightful, the staff are second to none and the quality and cost of the food is outstanding. Whether it's a Summers day in the garden on a Winters day by the log burner I couldn't think of a better way to pass an hour or two. Well done the whole team......

A lovely welcome as usual, first class beers available & an excellent menu. Chose seafood lasagne which I’d never had before & it was delicious, served with a really good salad.

Very attractive location to meet with friends for a meal. Dogs welcome indoors and out. Booking essential and well worth a visit. Smallish car park but on-road parking is available nearby.
