Really delicious and interesting food, if a bit pricey. The service was completely chaotic - we waited at the bar for close to 10 minutes to let them know we'd arrived, once seated we had to ask for menus as none was provided for 20 minutes or so, staff would periodically come and ask diners if anyone had taken their order yet, bring a dish to a table and ask if they'd ordered it, and so on. One dish was missed completely which they did eventually spot but as it had been 20 minutes since the last plate had arrived we skipped it and had desert instead. This place could be brilliant but it needs to staff the restaurant and bar elements appropriately, and perhaps separately, and ensure that everyone knows what their role is. But as I say, excellent food.

We had an excellent dinner at the Angel, which has become one of our favourite restaurants in Totnes. The menu varies each time and this time our dinner included delicious fritto misto, tarka greens of broccoli and krispy kale. The desserts were excellent, particularly the pear poached in red wine and served with chocolate sauce and ice cream. The service is very friendly and welcoming. Claire remembers us from last time and was so welcoming and helpful. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Good Sunday lunch - large variety of vegetables and plenty of it. However the service was pretty chaotic and hit and miss. There seemed to be only one woman on for quite a long time and she didn't seem to have a lot of experience as she struggled a bit (but was very good natured.) The food came in dribs and drabs rather than all at once - but as there was a lot, that wasn't such a problem as it may have been. Will give the Angel another chance and hope the service is a bit better next time.

Colourful, vibey, and a little bit eccentric without going over the top. The food was indulgent and creative and included a good selection of veggie options. Best negroni I’ve had in ages. Staff are friendly and fun.

Where to start!! Our whole evening was a delight in both food and ambience from start to finish. Arthur is a wonder. His ever changing menu using locally sourced produce is delightful We were a group of 4 and we ordered everything on the menu! So many different tastes and textures but all complementing each other. Definite North African vibe and delicious. Food comes when ready and if made for sharing. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I love the eclectic tableware and interior design. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. See you soon.

Second or third time dining here since they launched and I am still so impressed with the food. I really enjoy how it is quite veg-centric with just 1-2 meat offerings, so you can fill up on the good healthy stuff! The flatbreads are not to be missed, ditto the smashed, crunchy new potatoes. Then add in some delicious salads, dips, maybe a little fish, heavenly. Service is a very accommodating and friendly, they're more than happy to go with the flow if you need longer to chat or ponder options. We loved the cocktails but the only negative I would say is the price point of the cocktails for the area is a little high. Maybe making a few of the staples more affordable might lure people in to experiment with other more exotic options! Overall, this is an excellent addition to the high street and I will be directing people here gladly when they come to visit!

Really outstanding restaurant. The food is inventive and beautifully cooked. The quantities are just right. The staff seem to genuinely care that you have a great experience. There is a lively buzz in the bar but the eating areas are calm and pleasant. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into the decor. This is the best place to eat out in Totnes. I have just paid my third visit and will definitely keep coming back.
