Set in the beautiful village of Nayland, open fires and a cosy atmosphere make the Anchor a wonderful winter bolthole, and the banks of the River Stour provide glorious al fresco dining throughout the summer months.

    Love this place! The service, the food, and the variety of drinks! and the pub is right next to the river, beautiful setting!

    We chose the Anchor as we have always enjoyed our meals here, the added bonus this time was our daughter and her husband were visiting with their dog, which we were able to take with us. We sat by the river with a drink to start our evening moving inside to our table as our chosen time drew close. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the selection on the menu was wide enough to suit our dietary needs and extremely tasty. We will definitely return again soon.

    Relaxed, friendly and efficient service. Staff helpful and didn’t hurry us, checked all was well with food etc and were smiling and friendly Food good and good value for money, will be returning

    Unfortunately the chicken burger was very dry and over cooked. Vegetarian dish was good.

    We had quite an enjoyable lunch,service was very nice. A couple of negatives, drinks were on the steep side and thought the menu was quite limited. Because of this I don't think we would return.
