Great food and value for money, ample portions of food which was well presented and beautifully cooked Service was friendly, unhurried and yet efficient Beautiful waterside outdoor setting

Sunday lunch outside by the river on a sunny day, what could be better! Slight delay with some of the extras but no big deal and they were very busy. Excellent meal & very friendly staff, would recommend.

Welcoming staff - friendly and quick to take to our table Pleasant bar/dining area perfect for us and our dogs Good varied menu lots of choice Food arrived ok in time as it was very busy - good amount of staff Food was tasty but all meals were not that hot - tepid bordering on cold which was really disappointing as it was nice food with good ingredients - plates cold also which didn’t help - asked for extra gravy so it warmed up my food slightly. All four of us had desert all cold deserts which arrived on hot plates ( like out of dishwasher) including the ice cream which started to melt straight away Overall a ok meal ok value in a lovely setting - shame the mains were not as hot as the cold deserts !

Not the cheapest place but the fish and chips were extremely good. The dessert, however, let itself down - a tiny portion for £8.95 and it wasn’t even that good. Three discs of cinnamon cookies, the size of Ritz crackers, some apple sauce, apple cream and candied apple peel. I would much rather have had a decent slice of apple pie and cream. But the plentiful staff were great, and it was very busy. Not a long wait for food or drink, and they were all helpful and diligent- obviously a very good standard of training for customer service!

We were warmly welcomed and the staff were extremely attentive and courteous throughout the evening. We both enjoyed our food.

The service was good but the food Quality was good but the amount of food you got we didn’t think was value for money because the biggest thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding tiny amount of vegetables very disappointed

Probably the best roast dinner we’ve had whilst eating out. Even the potatoes were crispy! Can’t wait to come back

Good food , sadly not enough vegan / vegetarian options. The meat eaters were all pleased with their choices and enjoyed steaks, fish, and chips. Sadly, the anchor burger was disappointing. Cauliflower was very nice with the butter bean sauce, and Nori was very nice. Puddings were quite expensive at £8.50 each, but that is the price for desserts today, it seems. The lady who met us to check us in for our table seemed unfriendly. I had emailed the evening before to request a table indoors as we were not bringing a dog. There had been no acknowledgement to the email sent. Although I was told the email had been received. The waiting staff were very good and very attentive. Thank you The Anchor for a nice Father's Day meal overall.
