The Anchor in Danbury is the epitome of an English Country Inn, boasting beautiful traditional beams, quaint shining brass and a warm welcoming atmosphere which has made this pub a firm favourite for many years.
We have a lovely large garden with a fun children's play area, great for keeping the kids entertained while you catch up with friends and family over a relaxing drink or with some great food.
- Four legged friends are welcome at the pub, please ask our friendly staff for confirmation on which areas can accommodate you as we do require that dogs are kept out of the main dinning areas.
- Please note reservations with a dog are necessary, and can only be taken over the phone on 01245 222457 stating you have a dog.
- If you have a pushchair/buggy we ask that you call to make reservation, due to limited space.
- We only take reservations for our INDOOR tables.

It's been a long time since we have been to the Anchor, and we were not disappointed. We had and excellent meal from a a superb menu range. My wife and I both commented on the quality of the food and the service provided. We were very impressed with the menu choice and variety of food on offer, excellent value for money. We would have no hesitation in returning to the Anchor. A big thank you to the staff.

Dine here often whilst visiting my mother in law. The food is always good, staff friendly & polite. Great ambience love it!

Very pleasant looking pub, but staff were unsure on the menu, so they said mine came with chips but didn’t so ordered a side of vegetables, although it turns out it came with a side salad which wasn’t mentioned. Our main was cleared away with food still there, and they didn’t ask if we had finished. The vegetables looked like they were bought in frozen and microwaved. The fish was quite wet and not cooked to a high standard. Basically I could have cooked the meal better, which I don’t expect when eating out. Still they don’t charge a great deal, so I guess cut corners. Pay for what you get I think, so by no means terrible, but was a little disappointing.

Went to the Anchor with friends and we were all impressed. Will definitely be back soon.

Warm welcome on arrival, promptly sat at table. Tasty food for all of us, lovely helpful staff. We had a great time and will be back. Only small criticism is that they don’t have strawberry ice cream on menu. Due to it we didn’t have desserts as son wanted strawberry ice cream

Good food in nice surroundings. The round table in the bar area was excellent for 4 people and wasn't too noisy. Service was good. Would certainly recommend for great food in good surroundings.

this is one of Essex's most outstanding pubs the food is always amazing cooked from scratch with so much to choose from. excellent wine and the staff are attentive without hovering I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub
