The Allotment Vegan Eatery is an entirely plant-based, restaurant at Cathedral Gardens in Manchester city centre, right opposite the Cathedral at the end of Deansgate.

We are beyond proud of our seasonal menus, warm friendly service and stunning surroundings all which have lead to us being awarded the 28th best vegan restaurant Worldwide

Join us for delicious dishes and flavoursome cocktails seven days a week.

You can choose from our A La Carte Menu available Mon - Sat 12pm - 9pm

We also have a delicious Sunday set menu available every Sunday from 12pm -9pm

We have a cosy dining room serving quality beers, wines and spirits, and seasonal cocktails.

Gorgeous afternoon tea as a belated birthday present. Both me and my dad loved it. Great good, lovely decor, and nice atmosphere.

I wish there were an option to leave a zero star rating as that is what this place deserves. We waited one and a half hours only to be served no food and finally decided to leave having waited so long and been completely ignored throughout. Other tables were having similar issues, one customer left without eating dessert after having had enough of waiting. A few other diners arrived after us and yet were served before us . A few of them also complained as when food finally reached their table it was served without cutlery. Staff were extremely defensive when questioned about the delay . They took no responsibility and were quick to blame the kitchen. Staff fail to understand that even though there may be an issue in the kitchen they are the ones dealing with the customers and represent the restaurant. During our 90- minute wait we were never given any updates or explanation as to why our food was taking so long, instead staff repeatedly walked pass our table as though we weren’t there. This is a relatively small restaurant with three members of waiting staff who looked as though they either couldn’t cope or couldn’t care less about their customers. We had planned to go somewhere after our ‘meal’ here and ended up having to cancel such plans due to wasting our time here. In the end, we found ourselves eating elsewhere at 9.15pm. We had looked forward to our visit to The Allotment. I had booked it in advance but it turned into a nightmare. I can only describe the experience as shockingly awful. To be avoided.

Hour wait for food (tofu curry)! , ran out of a lot of food for 6.30 on a Friday night! Popadum dripping in oil and soft! Building was nice though

Superb flavour, meaty textures and so filling! Friendly, attentive staff. Wonderful location right outside the Cathedral.

Came for my vegan daughters birthday and she had always wanted afternoon tea! The staff were lovely and couldn’t help you enough and the food was delicious. Will defo be coming again.

I do hope we caught this place on an off day as our time there was not good. We were surprised but not too fussed to hear that items were not available from the dinner menu at 4:15PM. What was rather frustrating was having to change our orders multiple times due to items suddenly becoming not available at 4:15PM when we were one of the two groups currently in the restaurant. The starters were lovely, but the mains that we ended up with we both had to abandon. The vegetarian laksa was quite watery and bland, and the vegetables were cooked to mush. The accompanying papdam were also dripping with oil. Unfortunately, my boyfriend’s celeriac steak was undercooked and unbearable tough for him to cut, let alone chew through. The waitstaff did their best to make our experience better despite these mishaps but it was all too much and rather dampened our evening. I do hope this was just a blip as the restaurant is in a lovely part of Manchester, the staff are lovely, and the food sounds good.

It was unfortunate that the one dish that had attracted me to attending Allotment was not available, despite the restaurant being quite quiet when we attended. The cocktail that I then chose was also unavailable due to one of the ingredients not being available. This affected our experience at the restaurant, but the food we did have was good.

I think the food has greatly improved since my last visit over a year ago. It was all delicious and the setting is lovely and relaxing.
