Recently refurbished, The Alfred Tennyson has built its reputation as a gem in the local community of Belgravia. Filling the grand Georgian townhouse there is something to discover on every floor bringing much-needed vibrancy and footfall to Motcomb Street. We’re planning a New Year’s Eve to remember at The Alfred Tennyson. Join us for a sumptuous 3 course set menu in the First Floor Restaurant and then party the night away into the early hours with a live DJ in the pub. This experience price will be £65 per person which includes a glass of Champagne, 3 courses plus access to the party afterwards. A discretionary service charge will be added to the final bill on conclusion of the meal. Open until 1am. Unfortunately although this pub is a great location in Belgravia the food doesn’t really deliver. We have been there for a simple Sunday roast and the dinner just quickly turned in an impossible mission. Apart from the carrots, nothing else that the chef can cook. The pork, was the driest possible you can eat and we quickly changed it for a beef. Rubber wheels are potentially softer that what we have been served. The gravy was fat mixed with water, the meat had no flavour and the dumplings where burnt, visibly burnt. Is disappointing for such a traditional pub to not be able to serve the most traditional dish. Further to this, although the waiter kindly apologised multiple times, we received a tiny discount, but the management seems unbothered that the chef is ready to serve carbonised food without an apology from the check himself It remains a great pub for drinks, with terrible roast and management

Fantastic pub in a beautiful area of Belgravia. The food is slightly overpriced but delicious. Portion sizes were a little hit and miss. Staff were attentive and helpful.

What a hidden gem! Reasonably priced, great staff and food in a very posh part of town. Sunday roast was very good value. The upstairs restaurant was busy and noisy but the atmosphere was great. Thanks to the whole team and will definitely be back😊

This is a great pub in a beautiful up market location. Last night there was a large private event taking place which was taking up nearly all of the staff's time, which made for a pretty poor experience for other diners not part of this group. Which was a shame as this is not a cheap place (£225 for two people) but we received a lacklustre experience for the price. Generally the Cubit house pubs are very good and I've always had good experiences, I don't think I'll be going back to this one.

Customer management and wait staff were outstanding. The menu and quality of the food prep was outstanding. All in the upstairs dining room.

There was a little confusion over our reservation and when we placed our order 25 minutes later we were told 3 of 4 dishes ordered were no longer available. Disappointing to say the least. Still, due to the long delay management lowered our bill by 25 percent. That was a very professional move in a eatery that is professionally run. I am going to chalk it up to an off night

Last year during our annual week long stay in the Belgravia neighborhood of London, we couldn't get enough of the Alfred Tennyson Pub, dined there three times. This year, not so much. The food was just average and the service was terrible. It was clear that the staff in the back and the front of the house was not the same as 2023, this year. We won't be back next year.
