Winner of the 2022 Jean Banchet Award for Best Bar, THE ALDERMAN is an intimate, 16-seat cocktail bar tucked away, behind closed doors, within Pilsen Yards. The cocktail list rotates some of its original cocktail features, while the twists on American classics are staples of the cocktail list.

With a plush velvet banquette and a 4-seat counter, it’s the perfect room for a night cap, a date, or a casual evening of one to several astonishingly good cocktails.

The Alderman was a fantastic experience! The bar staff (Sven & Matt, but it was Matt's last night) were amazing. The drinks were fabulous. The vibes were everything you would want a speakeasy to be.

Great Kyle menu and experience. Really knowledgeable staff and super attentive. This is a great place. If you enjoy craft cocktails, they must visit in Chicago.

It’s been two years since we visited The Alderman and Pilsen Yards. The bar is still fantastic! The cocktails are innovative balanced and taste delicious!

In my top three bars in Chicago. Outstanding cocktails and vibe. Best seats are at the bar.

Phenomenal drinks and experience. Would like to see light snacks added but dined at Pilsen Yards afterwards which was nice.

Absolutely killer in every way. The service, ambiance and the cocktails. Truly one of the top cocktail bars not only in Chicago, but the country. Don’t miss it.

My first time at a speakeasy and it was worth the trip out! Pictures on the website were very accurate. Service was pristine. Both servers were also the bartenders and had great recommendations. they can also make their own spin off drinks not on the menu based on your drink flavor palette for you to enjoy, like my girlfriend who they made a spin off dry daiquiri like drink for. I don’t write reviews but had to rave about this place - it’s a must visit! Personally recommend the Alderman old fashioned but their unique drinks like the chopped and screwed were delicious! The ambiance was incredible felt like we were transferred back in time, was quaint and intimate. Good date night spot as well!

Fantastic. Beautiful and intimate space. Unique and flavorful cocktails. Our bartender - forget his name! (afternoon on 5/4) - was fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable.

Matt & Sven are the stars of the show. Best speakeasy experience to date. Don't ask for a Toasted Marshmallow Espresso Martini, we got the first and last they'll ever make.
