Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Within feet of one-of-a-kind shops, just a block away from The Grand Hotel, across the street from The Woodward Opera House, and a few miles from Kenyon College and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, our establishment is a great location for gathering with loved ones young, elderly, and in between.     What a gem. We drove from Columbus and had a stellar meal. Our server Evelyn was delightful- knew the menu very well, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back.

    This was a very nice time having dinner with my husband for Valentine’s Day! Our waitress Lindsey was amazing and so kind!

    One of the best meals we have had in quite a while. Service was GREAT food was FANTASTIC and the over all ambiance of the dining room was exactly what we were looking for. We drove up from Columbus and will do it again. I had hesitated coming to The Alcove justifying that there are so many good restaurants in Columbus, but very few that stack up to what we experienced at The Alcove. Well worth the drive and i am now disappointed in myself for waiting so long to enjoy the food here. Will be back again and again for sure.

    This is one of our favorite high end restaurants. The food and service were good. For Valentines Day we were a bit disappointed that there was not an expanded lunch menu or specials. We had previously made reservations and were somewhat disappointed that we were seated in the bar area. These are small things and will not change our opinion as one of the best in the area.

    Soup of the day was Salmon chowder- decadent; crisp Caesar salad on a chilled plate- excellent. Chef's Feature was crab stuffed fresh walleye, with an incredibly delicious walnut sage sauce, served over house whipped potatoes and delicate green beans. Mom had chicken cordon bleu, perfection. For dessert we shared a creme brulee that was also perfectly prepared. Service that started at the front door, efficient, timely, and noticeable teamwork. Absolutely beautiful setting, unobtrusive background music. Even the manager stopped by to say hello! We loved the entire experience.
