Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings. Within feet of one-of-a-kind shops, just a block away from The Grand Hotel, across the street from The Woodward Opera House, and a few miles from Kenyon College and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, our establishment is a great location for gathering with loved ones young, elderly, and in between.     The Chef is outstanding. The food looked wonderful as served. Beef Wellington was wonderful....the best I have ever tasted...served on a bed of asparagus! My wife's steak was delicious served with wonderful mashed potatoes The spinach salad with apples, cranberries, goat cheese, walnuts and slices of red onion with sweet dressing was outstanding. The warm Sister Shubert rolls add so muchy to the salad and main courses. We even had dessert which left us too full. The warm apple cobbler with ice cream was yummy. I also had fresh decaffinated coffee served elegantly in a cup and saucer with a silver decanter for a second cup. My wife enjoyed delicious black raspberry with chocolate ice cream. Our server, Evelyn, was delightful and we would ask for her again. The Chef deserves an award!

    A fabulous experience tonight, Daniella was great, attentive, friendly and put up with our humor. Dinner was amazing fresh and delicious and desert was supper yum!

    As always, an excellent choice for date night! We shared the oysters on the half shell with a mignonette sauce. The Phyllo Mushroom appetizer is delicious and our go to every time! I had the Sea Bass with wontons and my husband had the Lamb with mushroom risotto and Brussels sprouts! Our waitress, Holly, was excellent! She was attentive and friendly! We always love dining at The Alcove!

    A lovely evening celebrating our daughter’s birthday. The food, service and atmosphere were all top notch. The filet mignon, salmon Oscar and butternut squash ravioli were all delicious.

    The Alcove was a high end dining experience! Superb service, excellent food quality and swanky atmosphere! Not the most expensive restaurant we've ever been to but it's up there. Local food suppliers add to the quality of the dishes! Loved our dining experience there! We will be back!

    Always a beautiful place to celebrate, food was great, I get the salmon oscar everytime we go and it never disappoints, service is always spectacular
