Founded in 1911 as a small ice cream and candy shop in the heart of Downtown Mount Vernon, The Alcove offers the finest dining experience in Central Ohio. Our diverse menu includes steak and seafood favorites as well as our signature Prime Rib of Beef available Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings.     We had two issues related to the food. Biggest one is the strip steak was not edible. It was like cutting into rubber. The wait staff replaced it with the hanger steak which was okay but not great. Bottomline, don’t order beef, especially at the high price. Second issue, this is second year we went for our anniversary and tried to order the oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer. Again they were out of it. On the plus, I always get seafood and have not been disappointed.

    the restaurant itself was clean, well decorated and quiet. We had an excellent server and the food was quite good.

    Beautiful decor; upscale. Excellent service and lovely food presentation. We come here from Columbus because the Alcove is special!

    We had a lovely time at the Alcove with our family. Our waitress was perfect and could not have been more attentive to our needs. Unfortunately we left our doggy bag with a whole steak dinner at the table and when I called 10 minutes after leaving to say we were coming back for it the person on the phone said it was already thrown away. I was more than disappointed by this and bothered by the staff on the phones lack of care regarding it.
