Comfort food from Kerala, India's spice garden. Thattu is located in the beautiful Chicago neighborhood of Avondale. It was born of Chef Margaret Pak’s love for the southwest Indian coastal cuisine of Kerala. Our menu brings you traditions of Kerala along with playful interpretations from our culinary team. Rich with aromatic spices, coconut and curry leaves, the cuisine is a celebration of the bounty of the land and the sea.

Tasty food, pleasant service. A little impersonal to prefer via app, but it makes splitting the check easy. Love the inclusive pricing!

Loved the dining experience here! The mushroom dish, chicken, and black chickpea curry were standouts. Service was impeccable. The staff was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend ! So good we left a tip and it’s a tipless restaurant

Amazing food and very knowledgeable servers! Only use Toast app for ordering and bill which was a bit annoying, but overall delicious food! The bread pudding and chicken curry were highlights

Everything was great except that ordering was through the QR code, so it was tough to get the wait staff if you wanted to ask questions.

If you are looking for quality Indian food, I cannot recommend this place enough! We ordered several dishes, but the Mushroom Mezhukkupuatti, Biriyani, and Pork Chop were standouts - phenomenal flavors! The drinks were delicious, as well. Truly loved all of the food and will be back again soon! Innovative restaurant in that you order everything through the webpage and it comes out as it is ready -- less emphasis on traditional service, which we loved, as well!

Food was great & came out fast; fish fry was the highlight. Service was lackluster for the price point. Owner was working the host stand when we got there, he didn’t really welcome us to his restaurant or say bye to us when we left. Waitress barely explained ordering to us (you order on your phones) & seemed put off when we made a mistake when ordering. The restaurant is quite loud, they should consider some sound dampening furniture or fixtures or something. Was expecting a better hospitality experience for this price point since this place is getting so much praise. Again, food was super solid but the overall experience was mixed.

This restaurant offers some of the most authentic Kerala cuisine in the United States. Every dish we ordered was exceptional: Beet Puff, Eggplant Theeyal, Vegetable Ishtu with Appam, Jeera Rice, and Chakka Rice Cake. The flavors were truly outstanding and showcased the rich culinary heritage of Kerala. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to experience authentic Kerala cuisine in Chicago.

Had the best experience. Being from Mangalore, the Onam meal was so close to home. Made me appreciate all the great food I used to eat back home

Loved the Onam Sadhya experience.Food was authentic & flovors spot on. Big shout out to Vinod & Margaret. Matta rice & even kerala banana was served. Olan, kaalan, pachadi& avial prepared to perfection. The whole experience took me back to my childhood .Thattu is a big Part of the Indian diaspora in the states. Will return back with friends & family.
