Chef Annie’s love for cooking started when she moved to the United States in 2012. She thinks about food all day; what it looks like, what it tastes like, and most of all, how it makes people feel connected and content. For Annie, cooking is a passion, a legacy, and a bridge. Cooking is a way for her to feel joy honoring her mother and her first home by serving the people in her new community. That is why Annie and her husband Ryan, a Rochester native, created ThaiPop. It is a labor of love to bring two homes and two worlds together in one place, to honor all who came before by serving all who gather today and tomorrow.

The Brussels, Massaman Curry with Brisket, Coconut Brisket, and Annie’s Toast were all fantastic. Jam packed with impressive flavors. I have been to Thai Pop several times, and you just cannot go wrong with anything you order. The Noodles and Brussels is also an awesome choice. The ambience and service is also top notch. Going to Thai Pop is an experience that you will not regret.

Most people who go to a Thai restaurant understand that the food is going to be very spicy. I wish there would've been more than a couple of entrees on the menu that allowed you to adjust the spice level. I ordered the house Thai curry and was told it's very spicy. And then the server offered to bring me aside of coconut milk to pour in and help cut the spice. I thought that was very kind. My only complaint is that the tiny dish of coconut milk showed up on the bill as a five dollar side. I just didn't like the surprise charge. Also, I am Asian and can handle quite a bit of spice and I found the house curry to be extremely spicy even with the coconut milk. My husband and daughter's entrees were average, nothing special for the price. Finally, our table for 3 was a hightop with one chair facing the brick wall and back to the restaurant, which was a disappointing, you literally feel like you're talking into a brick wall the entire time.

They have great variety AMAZING waiters and waitresses, great drinks and apps, and the best chicken drumsticks I’ve ever tasted in my life! The coconut brisket seems to be the only food I’ve disliked here. Everything else has been pretty tasty!

Thai Pop has always been a must-visit for me whenever I come to Rochester, MN. I’ve consistently enjoyed not only the food but also the attentive service. However, this time, I chose to celebrate my wedding anniversary here, and unfortunately, I was left with nothing but disappointment. The staff made me feel like they were doing me a favor by serving us. They even stood by, watching how much tip I would leave. If the owner reads this, it’s time to consider changing your staff. No matter how great the food is or how iconic the ambiance might be, if the service is poor, people won’t want to return. As for me, I won’t be coming back, and I’ll make sure to tell others visiting Rochester about my experience. If you want to be treated rudely, this is the place for you. I hope the management pays attention to this, especially regarding the waitress with pink hair. I even asked her for a photo, and she responded with a disgusted look. If I’m celebrating something, it’s because I want to capture a memory, but now the only memory I have is of her bad attitude. To top it off, I felt obligated to leave a large tip despite the poor treatment.
