We recently visited Terrain in Glen Mills, PA, to celebrate a special occasion—our first wedding anniversary. My wife, who is nine months pregnant and due in just a week, and I had high hopes for the evening, given that we’ve dined here before and always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, this visit was far from the experience we expected. Upon arriving early for our reservation, we informed the hosts that we were happy to wait if nothing was available yet. Instead of offering a table in the beautiful greenhouse area (one of the restaurant’s main attractions and something we were looking forward to), we were seated next to the bar. When we kindly asked if we could wait for a table in the greenhouse, we were told it was first come, first served, and were discouraged from waiting. This was disappointing, especially since we had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, a detail that seemed to be overlooked entirely. What followed only worsened the evening. Seated by the bar, we were constantly surrounded by large groups waiting for their tables. The noise level was so high that we couldn’t hear each other over their conversations, and several times we were bumped into by people standing nearby. It completely ruined any sense of intimacy or romance that we had hoped for on such a special night. While the food was great, the service was terrible. Our server was barely present, and we felt completely forgotten. I managed to order a second drink before our meal, but it didn’t arrive until we were asked if we wanted dessert or the check. Overall, it was clear we didn’t matter to the staff. Terrain’s atmosphere is supposed to be part of the experience, but this time, they failed spectacularly. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Eating at Terrain never disappoints. Our meals were great land so were the cocktails. Service was great… we had a really good time.

Not the great atmosphere that it used to be. Was so loud that we couldn’t have a conversation. Not sure if they have added more tables or what. Staff was ok but hostesses were not friendly and seemed like we were a bother to them more than customers.

The ambiance is adorable and cozy. The wait staff was respectful, kind, and attentive. The food was excellent. We had the short ribs and Gnocchi which was flavorful, tender, and delicious. If I lived closer, this would be my go-to restaurant. Excellent.

Really lovely ambience. Twinkle lights through an autumn garden to a rustic cafe. The food was delicious and seasonal. My dining companion inhaled the pork tenderloin and we fought over the fried cauliflower. My downgrade was because of the dangerously high noise levels—the euphemism of “energetic” is not helpful. Although I did not have my trusty decibel reader with me (because I never imagined I would need it there!), I did have my dB app. Over the course of about 90 minutes, the noise level ranged from 82-97dB, with an average of 88dB. It was so loud, we could not have a conversation, so we opted to skip dessert and find a quieter venue. Hearing protection should be arranged for staff because at 88dB, they risk hearing damage after just four hours. Musician hearing protection/attenuators would let staff hear orders while reducing the damage causing decibels.

The food and ambience are amazing !! The services was very good our bus boy was extremely kind and moved us into a shaded area after realizing the son was beaming on us.
