Taverna is a restaurant utilizing authentic Italian flavors to create memorable dishes. This restaurant is designed from the ground up to be a neighborhood bistro. Taverna is meant to be the kind of restaurant that guests can bring their family for either a casual meal or to celebrate special occasions. While the inside of the restaurant is cozy, the best place to enjoy the great food is out on the wraparound patio.Taverna is open for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on the weekends. During lunch and dinner service, guests will find a large variety of menu items available. Pasta, soups, salads and pizza are all popular choices. Taverna is also known for their risotto, as an entire section of the menu is devoted to the "risotteria". The signature risotto topped with a simple blend of parmesan cheese and black truffle cream sauce.

Taverna is one of our favorite downtown restaurants. We’ve eaten here for 10+yrs and it’s consistently very good food and great staff.

Pizza was cold when it came out. Server was missing for a bit. But everything was delicious overall. Noise was a bit loud. But I can’t fault that. It was in downtown Austin.

Overall good experience, but they were understaffed. Our waiter was doing his best to compensate so that was a plus. This restaurant remains in rotation when going to ACL Live.

Perfect for Christmas Eve dinner. The specials were delicious as were the regular menu options. They updated their menu, including the octopus dish but it was still delicious!

Overpriced and underwhelming! We love Italian food and are big foodies. Our gnocchi was overcooked, the marinara was nothing special, the Caesar salad was nice. It was my birthday and I was hoping for something above and beyond what we would make at home. The mashed potatoes were the most bland experience ever. The wine selection was nice. We liked the Tirimisu. The service was very good. Parking was easy in the garage nearby. But we wouldnt go again.

The food was good, we both enjoyed the dishes we ordered. We both are non-drinkers and ordered diet Cokes. They came to our table completely flat and watered down. When we told our waitress, she responded that they looked off to her but that is how the soda gun always dispenses so she suggested lemonade or water. You are charging over $30 for entrees and the only non-alcoholic options are water or lemonade? The women’s restroom needs attention. One stall doesn’t lock because part of the locking mechanism was ripped from the wall and was sitting on the floor of the stall. The other stall was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been serviced in a while.

DO NOT BE FOOLED by the proximity to ACL. It’s not convenient if the service is terrible and the food is mediocre at best. That was our experience on December 17, 2024. We arrived at 6:15 and got our food at 7:50. We were a table of 4. We ordered 3 Caesar salads and 2 pasta dishes to split between the 2 couples. These orders are staples of their menu—nothing special. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer. The waiter brought our drinks took our order and we didn’t see him again until we started getting nervous about the start time of our concert. The beer drinker had to go inside to the bar three times to get a refill. We didn’t get water refilled until right before the food arrived. After voicing our concerns to the waiter, the manager came by. She was unapologetic and quite dismissive. The food was okay but tasted like it had been sitting out and put in the microwave right before they brought it to the table. My husband called the restaurant’s HQ the next day and still has not heard back from anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

We ordered the steak at an Italian food restaurant. MISTAKE It was ordered medium rare.....came out overly done. Was more like a small roast in taste and texture than a good steak. The chopped salad however was excellent. Service personnel were harried and stressed. They did remove the steak cost from our bill which was a very good gesture.
