Tavern House is the creation of restaurateurs David Wilhelm and Gregg Solomon who have developed numerous Orange County restaurants over the past 25 years, including Kachina, Bistro 201, Barbacoa, Chat Noir, Diva, Sorrento Grille and French 75. The menu reflects a collection of Chef Wilhelm's popular signature seafood and comfort food dishes. A large centrally located bar drives a vibrant night time scene in what is arguably one of the best view locations in Newport Harbor. Tavern House has a beautiful 50 seat private room for banquets with full views of the harbor and a warm central fireplace.

The Tavern House is one of our go to special places. Love the view, the food, the service. However, last night we were disappointed which is rare. We arrived at 4pm - we were the only customers at that time. We had a beautiful window seat and were celebrating my friends birthday. Drinks, our appetizer and the salad came quickly and perfect to our order. However, I order the fabulous onion soup which arrived shortly after our salad but my friends ordered the onion soup filet mignon well done. It took almost 45 minutes, the steak was rare. We needed to leave at 5:30pm and they got their meal at 5;20pm. The comped our appetizer which was appreciated but I was very disappointed that the steak entree took so long. Something happened I guess in the kitchen, and I hope we don't have this experience again. I still highly recommend the Tavern House.

We went there for anniversary yesterday and had a beautiful window seat. The filet mignon was amazing. Everything was great. The only thing that bummed me out is I still had my plate in front of me with a few bites of filet mignon left and a half a glass of wine and the waitress served our anniversary ice cream to us while I was still eating my dinner. I thought it was so weird and I felt completely rushed out of there, even though we had only been there for an hour and five minutes!!! I know they need a flip tables, but that’s usually at 90 minutes. I try not to let that ruin my anniversary dinner. So I decided to put the lid on the bottle and drink the rest at home. Other than that, everything was great, we got there at sunset. It was gorgeous. And tonight we happen to be in the neighborhood and realized we were there in time for happy hour. We have never been there for Happy hour, but noticed they had some great options. My husband, me and our two teenagers went and had a great happy hour. I’ll definitely going back for happy hour. They had delicious options and reasonable prices from 4 to 6 PM every day!!

Terrific ambiance and view. We had the filet skewer appetizer, which was excellent, and the fresh petrale sole. Cocktails were lovely as was our adorable and efficient server Britta. We’ll be back!

Very nice. Gave us requested table overlooking water for our anniversary. Katy our server was very nice and attentive. Knew the menu and made suggestions. Fish and chips and Lobster/shrimp club were delicious along with the raw oysters and Bloody Mary’s (which came with Pilsner chasers. . . nice addition). Definitely will return. Would recommend.

Food was very good with generous portions. Restaurant was kind of loud server had a hard time taking our order, we kept having to repeat ourselves.

The sea bass and prime rib dishes were exceptional. The service was great as well as the views of the bay.
