Taverns were a center of daily life in colonial times. They were the local, social and political hubs that spawned the thinking that led to the American Revolution. Tavern at the Sun Inn continues in this tradition offering a Colonial-inspired Seasonal food and beverage menu in a truly unique gathering spot.
Tavern’s culinary team is led by Billy Gruenewald. He offers a casual tavern-style menu that changes to match what is seasonally available and features some ingredients that would have been available to Bethlehem’s founders. Dinner is served on the Sun Inn’s second floor and light fare and drinks outdoors on the beautiful North Green when the weather permits.

Outdoor seating is first come first serve.

It was very relaxing, but almost too quiet. Food was good. We mentioned to Open Table that it was our wedding anniversary but the restaurant didn’t acknowledge it at all. A little disappointing.

What a treat to find this gem in Bethlehem. We had an amazing dinner in this historical landmark. So happy we found it and got a history lesson too! The food was delicious and the ambience you cannot beat,5 stars and a must while visiting Bethlehem!

What a fun historical restaurant. It was a great lunch restaurant. The salad was amazing, the wait staff was kind, and the museum was free.

Wonderful place tastefully decorated in colonial style. They have a fairly simple, reasonably priced, menu with imaginative colonial names. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals and appetizers. Our server was extremely good!

Celebrated a friend's birthday there on Fri 7/5/24. Food and service were first rate. Scottie is wonderful; friendly, knowledgable and charming. Our meals were delicious and it was a lovely experience. We will come back.

We’ve been here before for lunch, and loved it. However, it just didn’t work for dinner. I had the shredded chicken thighs and my husband had the steak. They were both good, but felt like lunch time dishes. The hostess was in Jean shorts and a tshirt and was super casual in demeanor as well. Almost like a teenage daughter that you were bothering kind of a vibe. Our waitress, Shannon, was lovely. The place was practically empty as well. So, perhaps we aren’t alone in our impression. We won’t be back for dinner.

Met with the lifelong friend and we got a great seat. We had a wonderful waitress and great meal. Thank you.

Perfect night to eat outside - and Tavern has the BEST outdoor space in ALL of downtown Bethlehem! Lots of space and tables, beautiful light, and atmosphere! On top of that, you can't beat the service and food! Our waiter, Dev, couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Drinks and food came out quickly and cooked perfectly! We had mushrooms and the pretzel for appetizers, and then the blank flank, crab cake, and burger for mains. I can't say enough about the blank flank besides YUM!! Flavorful and delicious. My husband loved the burger, and the kids crabcakes were loaded with crab. We will definitely be eating here again!

It was so nice. We sat inside and everyone else outside, literally. We were the only ones inside and it was so nice and peaceful.

Tavern at the Sun was a lovely historic site with displays reminiscent of colonial times. While the drinks were amazing, the food was quite ordinary. The stuffed mushrooms app was actually very tasty, but the mushrooms were tiny. I would never choose such small mushrooms to stuff. The pretzel appetizer was nice, but the Lafayette roast beef sandwich was extremely dry and boring. I have to say that the service was excellent, though. I might try this place again and choose differently.
