At Millpond Gatherings, we are an all-encompassing hospitality center where you can eat, celebrate, shop, and stay with us here in the quaint town of Northford, Connecticut. The Millpond Steakhouse, run by Executive Chef Pedro Avila, is a farm-to-table modern American steakhouse with a fine dining flare. Our dry-aged grass-fed beef is sourced from our own cattle farm just 2 miles up the road and accompanied with local produce from our surrounding farmers. Downstairs in the Tavern we encompass the spirit of historic New England with a cozy laid back atmosphere.

Millpond Events is our venue hall located adjacent to the restaurant. This rustic charming space will harvest many special memories and celebrations.

The restaurant had lost partial power before we got there so the tavern was dark. Had to pay cash or they wrote down your cc information and stated they would charge when power was restored. Food was good except desert. The waffle and ice cream wasn’t good at all. The ice cream was freezer burnt.

My frie d and I both got the hamburger and fries. We asked to have bacon put on the burgers, the bacon was the most disgusting thing I ever had. It was thin a quarter inch thick ( maybe exaggerating a bit) but it was pure fat, couldn't even chew it. We both hated it. I also did not like the taste of the burger, you must put some kind of spice in or on the meat. Not good at all. We were very disappointed!

Food was great! It took a while to get meal due to Mother’s Day holiday but they offered popovers and free drinks which was very thoughtful of them.

DISAPPOINTED-We have been to this restaurant so so many times (including booking my husband’s work Christmas party here) and any other time I would’ve given it 5 stars but today, on Mother’s Day it was far from that. We had a 3 o’clock reservation and arrived at 2:15 thinking that perhaps we could get seated early. We sat at the bar because brunch service was still going on and we’re told that they would come get us when we could be seated. We figured we could at least get as app at the bar, but while brunch was going on they were not serving any food at the bar. WHAT? My husband and I were there for Mother’s Day with our adult daughter. At 2:50 we left the bar and got in queue at the hostess stand because nobody came to get us by this time. There was a long line of people to be seated and the hostess told us that they were still getting tables ready and we waited there for another 15 minutes before we got seated at about 315. Meanwhile many other tables got seated. When making the reservation I had requested a seat by the fireplace, but we were seated at a table behind the bar area where parents generally sit sit with their young children, and indeed this is where we sat surrounded by families with young children, and I am OK with that except that after I asked we were told that only large parties were being seated by the fireplace. Well, that was not the case because there were many small parties like us in that area. The food was just OK today where usually the food is very good. My husband’s steak was tough, my daughter did not get the fixings that she asked for for her burger until after she was finished eating and I always order the ranch salad because they have no other vegan options on the tavern menu. my salad is usually very large, but today it was smaller than a side salad. The only redeeming thing about our experience today was our server, Joyce, who was excellent.

Appetizers were very good. We had oysters and chicken wings with signature sauce. Dinners were very flavorful. Salmon and pasta primavera. Our server was fantastic. Lovely setting overlooking the brook despite the rain.

The property and building are absolutely gorgeous. The food and service were ok, but it's the scenery you're paying for.

Millpond has a great happy hour at The Tavern. The prices and the food/drinks were very good. We also were able to stay for 4 hours and no one complained or rushed us out.

Great building and grounds. Good food. Waitress did not bring me a drink I ordered. Asked another waitress for it. Finally got it. After paying realized she charged me for the one she never brought and the one she did. Other than being overcharged it was a nice experience.
