Since 2022, Tartuca has been a quintessential Pacific Northwest restaurant, contextualizing its hyper-local, farm-direct produce through an Italian lens on the active strip of Mississippi Avenue in North Portland. Tartuca has formed partnerships with local farmers and respects their soulful work by treating their produce as simply as possible, letting the quality of the ingredients shine above all else. Inside Tartuca is a hip, bustling environment powered by a grooving soundtrack and abundantly flowing wine from a tightly curated All-Italian list that exclusively features small, artisanal producers making wine naturally from organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards, often from over-looked regions. Delightful and delectable- our table ordered the Escarole Caesar salad, shrimp-pesto starter, burrata salad, radiatore, and pork osso bucco. Each dish was unique, made with great attention to layers of flavor and textures, and seasonal ingredients. We really wish that they offered nonalcoholic beers along with so many alcoholic options. Mocktails just don’t cut it.

Great menu but food was not as great as previous visits. Pasta was salty and clumped, pizza was soggy. Still great ingredients.

My family and I had dinner at Tartuca celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious/outstanding. The service was great! We were greeted by a few people and think it was even the chef that welcomed us. We ordered pizza, salad, and is so bucco. Also, the homemade bread was delicious along with olive oil and a delicious burrata. It was all so good and we highly recommend it to everyone.

I love this sweet little place because it’s intimate and reminds me of places in France. The Italian wines are excellent. We loved the Nebiolo.! The mozzarella salad and pesto prawns with homemade focaccia bread were fancy compared to other places. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Music had a great vibe and not way too loud like so many places. There is even a small covered patio in the back, which we will check out next time.

Excellent authentic Italian cuisine! Wonderful cozy atmosphere. Memorable dining experience. This will be our go to place for special occasions and celebrations.
