We enjoyed the amazing food, and the environment with an open fire. We loved the meals, Goat and a beautifully cooked steak. Also the welcome and service was great.

Beautiful old pub, great food. We had the steak sandwich which was delicious, home-made relish so good. The open fires and live music created a very relaxing afternoon. Local wine list also fabulous.

Met with an unpleasant welcome at the bar, pointed in the direction of the dining room, service was quite uncomfortable & somewhat abrupt. Not one smile was exchanged. Menus were chucked onto the table in front of us! Very limited menu that wasn't very "Country Hotel" style. Ordered the sirloin steak as the other two options were seriously overpriced and asked for it to be cooked medium, was rudely told they only cook their steaks medium rare! I was a bit shocked considering I'd never been told such nonsense before! Asked what sauces was available and was told that they provide a spiced butter with their steaks and no other sauce options unless I wanted Gravy. I felt pressured to go with the butter. We waited 50 minutes for our meals to come out..most of which was flavoursome meals, however as I was eating my steak, I coped a mouthful of salt from what I assumed was the spiced butter! I had to take it out of my mouth, it was like the lid popped of the salt container and dumped over the top! Unfortunately I couldn't finish my meal and two of the other people accompanying me ordered the sausages & coped a heap of pepper in their meals. We dared not to mention our unpleasant eating experience afraid of how we would be spoken to! We found the dining room to be quite cold and we could not wait to leave! We fixed up our bill which was well and truly too expensive and can assure you we will never return! Very disappointing experience!

We ordered the prawn entre, one was cremated, two were barely cooked and one had the poo tube still in it and the tomato thing (i think it's meant to be a salsa) that accompanies was bland. The duck liver parfait was excellent as usual. We were passed 23 times by 4 different staff members while waiting for our table to be cleared for mains. Of those 23 times, our table was glanced over 11 times. Mains arrived. Chicken parmi was good although it was served on top of the chips. I HATE that! WTF?? The bangers and mash has some weird tasting mustard thing going on with the onions, the bangers were average but the mash was excellent. We now know what to NOT order.

The steak with Paris butter was outstanding! Very good wine selection and friendly staff. The only thing that was not good was the BBQ prawns, overcooked and mushy.
