The Tamburlaine Bar and Restaurant, situated on the ground floor of the Clayton Hotel Cambridge, is located in the vibrant new city quarter of Cambridge, only a 1-minute walk away from the railway station.

The restaurant is centred around a dramatic carved marble bar and surrounded by accents of soft leather, gleaming brass and salvaged timber, making for an exceptionally elegant Brasserie-style dining experience.

All dishes are simple, seasonal, locally sourced and prepared to the exacting standards of our Head Chef. Whether it is for an informal lunch or a special occasion dinner, the Tamburlaine Bar & Restaurant is the perfect setting.

After a meal, head to the bar to unwind while you enjoy classic cocktails curated by our talented bar staff.

The Clayton Hotel Cambridge was opened in 2020 and has been newly refurbished to encompass the true luxury Cambridge has to offer.

Would not recommend and will not be back. Not many people there eating (should have been a sign not to stay). Service was poor…brought a side dish out as a starter and one of us asked for mash instead of chips but it didn’t happen. No hot puddings on the main menu so if you want the only warm pudding they serve then you need to order off the bar menu. No ambiance as only a couple of hotel guests eating by themselves and one work party of 10 people. The food was ok….nothing amazing to recommend. Disappointed really…given the good location for the station. Perhaps we went on an “off day”….but unlikely to give it another go.

Nice ambience but for their respective prices the pasta was cold, salmon focaccia had very little filling and vegetables with the sea bass were hard. Burger was alright but nothing out of the ordinary. Saving grace was the tastecard discount

We arrived to an empty restaurant and the waiters seemed very unsure of their role-although pleasant seemed confused . Ordered drinks in bar - glass dirty. I had to ask if we could go to table but was not accompanied . Waiter plonked down two menus but didn’t tell us what they were -turned out to be drinks menus. Then he disappeared. S We decided this was not for us . Looking for a pleasant birthday lunch which clearly this commercial hotel was not equipped for. Massive investment into staff training required. PS serviettes were same paper towels as in the loos ( which were the best part of the hotel)

The food that we ate here was delicious and it’s just a shame about the service. we arrived for a booking on time and were on the set menu so ordered our dishes accordingly we had a booking for an activity after dinner so allowed just over an hour and a half for us to eat. We quickly realised this booking would need to be changed as it took about 1h hour from our main course to come. Then once we finish this, it was another long wait until our desert arrived. This was a shame as outside of this the food itself was beautiful well presented and the general atmosphere was pleasant.

Service was very good, attended to very well without being over the top. Cocktails were made well and food was very good as expected with dishes to cater for all palates. Overall a very good first visit. Would definitely go again.

Hello, I do apologise that we do not offer more options. If it is of any help, we do have a bar menu with other choices which we are happy to serve in the restaurant as well. Furthermore, our menu does go through changes seasonally, so hopefully it offers more choices should you choose to visit us more times throughout the year. Finally, we do offer special promotions for specific times of the year which will have special dishes not on our habitual menus. However, I am very glad to hear that you did enjoy what you had. Food is great. You have a very good chef. Vicente who serves us is very kind and helpful. We have a fantastic dinner and until now can't get over the pork belly I ate. So yummmy🤗🤤
