Drastically understaffed in a Saturday night during high tourist season. All employees were very friendly, but obviously understaffed and struggling as a result.

The Talbott Tavern is a beautiful and historic tavern in the heart of Bardstown! We enjoyed our meal. The food was amazing and the service prompt and courteous. Our waitress Katie recommended that we take in the historic rooms on the second floor and that was great advice. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and can’t recommend this tavern enough. Go! You won’t be disappointed!

Very good, lives up to its reputation for great southern food and unparalleled ambience in Bardstown. Absolute best fried catfish we’ve ever had. Entire staff from the wonderful young men at the desk to our waitress were terrific. We will be back

Cool history with this place. We made reservations and got in quickly, The waitress didn’t check on us for drinks after getting food for a while or see how food tasted. Good draft beer selection. My wife got an entree which was lukewarm but plate was hot. My pot roast ok but better with mashed potatoes as an option. It was ok but don’t know if I will be back as an option. Food I was hoping would be better - prices ok not what I thought.

After an hour we still had no food served. Our waitress never came over to check on us or refill drinks for over 50 minutes after we ordered our food. We asked to pay for our drinks and left. Very disappointed in the service. They said it was due to a large group being seated, but others around us that were seated after us got their orders.

Disappointed! This great little place has so much potential but they were out of over half the menu items. The food we had wasn’t bad but the overall visit was again, disappointing

The rich history of this beautiful building is equally interesting and fascinating. The kind, attentive waitstaff is immeasurable. The drinks were exquisite… Unfortunately the food was subpar. Yes, it was delivered as ordered but plating is stuck in the 1980s (all sides were overflowing from small bowls). Our mains were hot and delicious (ribs and catfish) but the green beans and wild rice were under-seasoned and cool. Dessert (chess pie) was piping hot and delicious, likely the highlight of our food. Would I return? Perhaps. I might suggest the culinary team broaden their horizons and try some new modern techniques. The old building cannot be the only reasons people want to visit a restaurant.
