Mixed experience. Bourbon selection was excellent. Some of the food was good (Catfish, Bourbon Meatballs). The hot brown had some sort of spice in the sauce that overwhelmed the other ingredients and detracted from the dish. The burgoo was so heavily seasoned that after a couple bites the only flavor was the spice. You can add pepper and hot sauces to a dish - you can not take them out. One of the reasons we went to this restaurant was for the Chess Pie that was on the online menu. As we were finishing our meal the check arrived! We asked about dessert and were told there was none that day. Didn't fully catch the reason, but something about someone (manager?) had not ordered, had not brought them in, didn't show up.... In any event, no desserts. We solved that problem by going across the street to Mammy's where the four of us had some excellent pie! But really - no desserts? When we were first seated, we were seated under a fan which was blowing cold air onto the table. We asked to be moved into one of the other dining areas when there was a table by a window with the sun shining on it (much warmer for the ladies in our group). Notwithstanding there were few tables occupied at the time, we were told that was not possible, but they moved us to the table next to the one we were originally seated - with still the same problem with the fan, although a bit less so. Rather than be uncomfortable during our meal, we picked up our menus and moved to the table by the window with the sun! Our server followed us and we enjoyed the window and the sun during our meal. Couple final comments - (1) our server, Kohlten (sp?) was excellent and (2) notwithstanding this less than optimum experience we would go back and give the restaurant another shot in the future.

The service and food was horrible. Took 45 minutes to get glass of wine. Ordered Salmon and it was raw with cold sides. One server assigned to dining room with a large table. Should have sent food back but, it was already 8pm and we were ready for bed. The Inn was nice enough. Would not dine here again.

The catfish was very good. The chicken was great as well. The very cold beer was soso. Ask for a taste first. Take your time lots to see. Went back for the live music. Great time!!

Drastically understaffed in a Saturday night during high tourist season. All employees were very friendly, but obviously understaffed and struggling as a result.

The Talbott Tavern is a beautiful and historic tavern in the heart of Bardstown! We enjoyed our meal. The food was amazing and the service prompt and courteous. Our waitress Katie recommended that we take in the historic rooms on the second floor and that was great advice. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and can’t recommend this tavern enough. Go! You won’t be disappointed!

Very good, lives up to its reputation for great southern food and unparalleled ambience in Bardstown. Absolute best fried catfish we’ve ever had. Entire staff from the wonderful young men at the desk to our waitress were terrific. We will be back

Cool history with this place. We made reservations and got in quickly, The waitress didn’t check on us for drinks after getting food for a while or see how food tasted. Good draft beer selection. My wife got an entree which was lukewarm but plate was hot. My pot roast ok but better with mashed potatoes as an option. It was ok but don’t know if I will be back as an option. Food I was hoping would be better - prices ok not what I thought.
