It seems that it’s a bit uneven and though they are really trying it’s not up to par. The scallops were a bit chewy but the sushi was good. The service was on point. It’s a mixed bag

The shirt ribs fell off the bone, well rounded flavors and delicious. The duck bao bun was juicy, saucy and flavorful. Short rib tacos had a nice crispiness that blends well with the short ribs and pickled vegetables. The mushroom gyoza was light and paired well with the soy sauce. Our favorite roll was the dragon maki. The shrimp tasted very fresh and well seasoned. Overall the roll was delicious! The nigiri had a thicker cut; it was good value but not refined. The hamachi nigiri would have tasted better with a serano topping. The Hirame tasted a little fishy, maybe some herbs/aromatic in powdered form would have paired well dusted on top. The sushi rice was on point, you can taste the individual grains. The crispy tuna had a heaping amount of tuna on top. This is also good value but it was too much tuna. The flavors were subtle but it could use some jazzing up. The crispy rice was too soft and immediately fell apart when picking up with the chopsticks. The eel and avocado roll was also delicious and light. Overall the sushi component of the meal could use a little more refinement. Although the rolls are delicious, the use of eel sauce drizzled on top feels a little basic. When it comes it service, the server was pleasant but not 5/5. He did not introduce himself by name, asked for dietary restrictions, nor change out our plates. Besides that, the food came out very fast. The maitre d or manager came and spoke to us, it was a pleasant and welcomed surprise. Overall Takato is still my favorite restaurant in the Ft. Lauderdale area. With some refinement in the sushi portion of dinner and improvement in service, Takato can easily be a 5/5 experience.

Came here last night for my birthday dinner and had a really unenthusiastic waiter. Service was overall lackluster. No birthday cake or dessert, or any kind of birthday treatment. For such an upscale restaurant, I expected a more for a birthday celebration.

Our server as fabulous! The cocktails were beautiful and tasty! I loved other the Korean dishes and the Japanese dishes. The presentation was exceptional.
