It wouldn’t have been so bad if the prices matched the quality. I’ve never been to a sushi restaurant and thought “woah, the brussels sprouts were the best part.” We initially ordered a handful of rolls and planned to get more after but once we ate that first roll we were very heavily disappointed. I mean even the all you can eat sushi places have better quality fish. They put something on the rolls that just completely overpower everything else. The sushimi had a unique texture to say the least, server recommended the chu toro ($16…) not even close to reasonable. It’s incredible this is one of the top rated sushi places in DC. We were very hopeful and it was just a massive let down. I should also add, we were the first table there that evening and then they put a very loud group 3 feet away at the next table when there were 15 or so other tables for them to sit at.

The food and service were excellent. The only non-positive part of the experience was that if someone would like to do the tasting menu, then the entire table is required to participate. I don't really eat seafood, but went to the restaurant for my husband's birthday since he loves sushi. He wanted to do the most expansive tasting menu, but it didn't make sense for me to do it given the cost and my food preferences. Otherwise, would highly recommend.

We had a lovely graduation lunch for our son at Takara. He is a huge sushi fan and it was so delicious. My vegetarian sister raved about her meal as well. Lovely service. They made our day even more special and we loved the decorations and the airy dining room.

Our food and service was absolutely incredible. The recommendations our server made were amazing, and the quality and value were top notch. Went for lunch with a group of 5 people and loved everything and the food came out perfectly and quickly. Can't wait to go again!

The food and service is outstanding. Staff is knowledgeable, professional and efficient. Food is delicious, presentations are photo worthy and great value. Good beer and wine selection with reasonable prices. My 'go to' neighborhood restaurant.

Outstanding food and service! Had dinner on Sunday evening with our daughter. It was so good we came back the next evening. Highly recommend Takara 14!
