Takai by Kashiba is a fine dining Edo-Mae style Sushi restaurant that specializes exclusively in nigiri sushi.
Sushi Counter is solely Chef's Omakase, seated at 5:30 and 7:30.
Omakase is also available at our dining room tables along with a la carte Sushi options.
We do not have vegan/vegetarian/kids menus available. We are able to accommodate most allergies.

Led by Chef Jun Takai, the Omakase consists of local and international seafood accompanied by Kaiseki style dishes. Takai by Kashiba creates an elegant atmosphere whether you're seated at a table or the intimate sushi bar.

Omakase style drink pairings are also available along with a thoughtful selection of Sake, Wine and Japanese Whisky.

Seated in our dining room you will enjoy our Omakase, but with a more private and relaxed feel. Each dish is carefully prepared by the chef served directly to your table. The menu features seasonal, high-quality ingredients—sashimi, nigiri, and inventive courses—but with a bit more comfort and space to enjoy them with friends or family. No vegan/vegetarian/kids menus available. Table is reserved for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Food was good. Service was rushed and pacing between courses was very poor. A cardinal sin in fine dining is pushing aside a plate that’s still being eaten to serve the next course. This happened with every course at Takai when we had dinner there in early November 2024.

Special occasion and the evening was fantastic. The service was great, staff was really knowledgeable about each course, the food was inventive and the flavors were wonderful. I recommend Takai highly. We will be back.

The real deal as always. True, authentic, Edomae style sushi made at the highest level. Service is always on point. Great selection of bottles. Nothing compares on the Eastside.

I found the next best thing at Takai, the whisky bar. I was able to order the omakase and sit and chat with the bartender and get some off menu drinks and learn more about the methods behind the scenes. Great experience, thank you Danny!

Fresh ingredients but disappointing omakase experience. As a repeat customer of Kashiba and Shiro's, I had high expectations for this establishment. We were not blown away by the menu or flavors to want to give it another shot. If this restaurant is on your list I recommend skipping the counter experience and ordering from the dining room table.

Excellent service, very clean restaurant, skilled chef (Chef Jun was awesome). The fish is very fresh and deliciously prepared. Dining room and chefs counter are both fantastic but my husband and I prefer the chefs counter experience. It’s not a cheap meal but it’s worth it. Do the tea pairing, it’s lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I have gone to Takai by Kashiba a few times and it has absolutely blown me away each time that I’ve gone. The omakase is a unique and memorable experience and each dish is thoughtfully prepared. The attention to detail is outstanding and the servers are attentive and knowledgeable. I can’t recommend Takai enough and if you’re celebrating a special occasion this is a must if you have it in your budget. A omakase dinner for two with the sake parings ran me about $650 after tip
