Welcome to Sylvester’s Italian Chophouse. Located near the water in a beautiful 1932 historic building in the seaside community of San Clemente California.
We share a culinary interest, respect and appreciation for traditional Italian and French foods. The goal of keeping it simple with good breads, pizza, pasta and a variety of steaks, all paired with outstanding wines.
Our kitchen is comprised of a team that has cooked at top restaurants around the world. With experience in both fine and casual dining, we landed in the middle, on what San Clemente does best, “causally sophisticated”.

Sylvester’s is always a good choice! Love the service, drinks, and ambiance! I’ve never had a remotely negative experience! Great choice to bring people who haven’t experienced San Clemente!

It's set up as a bar with eating as an afterthought. Extremely noisy. Service and food mediocre at best.

The food was excellent except for the fish entre. It was not completely boneless even though it was supposed to be boned. It was very small and came with no sides. For $32 I expect at least one side. My advice is get the chicken or a steak so you won’t leave hungry. As far as ambience, the patio door was left open and the breeze coming in was off the ocean so quite cold. I would recommend they keep the door closed. Otherwise it’s a lovely spot for dinner.

Nice dinner... had the meatball appetizer and it was nicely prepared. Sauce was wonderful and the meatballs were a little dry on their exterior but really flavored well and worthy. There were 3 of them and the size was perfect. The lasagna was the bomb and my brides steal was very nice. The olive cake was wonderful with the pecan ice cream and the super Tuscan wine by the glass was great too. Ordered a pizza (Margherita) and the flavor was good, but was too loose in the middle. Mama had Steak and it had a nice crust on it. My concerns: too many empty tables. The food is really good and we will be back and will likely try the pastas. We didn't get a bread service - nor did we ask, but that is something that we would normally ask for. The pricing feels right. Everything was well put together and we will be back.

Enjoyed our first visit. The beef carpaccio was delicious as well as the pastas; Fusilli, Spaghetti and meatballs, and the veal filled one. Next time we will try the steaks. The waitress was friendly but could have been more attentive. It wasn’t busy we went early. Also not sure if they have dessert, we were not offered any. Realized that as I was driving home.

This was our first visit and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food was unique and tasty. I rated it 4 stars because the rib eye was overcooked. We'll try the filet next time. I hope the restaurant does well and look forward to more menu choices in the future.

My wife and I were looking for someplace new for a date night. We chose Sylvester's after reading other positive reviews and were not disappointed. The meatball appetizer and the chop salad that were delicious. The pepperoni pizza was great and the crust on that pizza is one of the top 5 in the area. The New York steak was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious with or without the amazing demi glaze. The drinks were delicious and very well crafted. The staff was very friendly and professional. We will definitely be going back.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Our server, Leah, was great and very attentive. The food was really good. Started with the meatballs and a salad. Had the ribeye with broccolini and ended with their lemon olive oil cake. Everything was fantastic.
