Sweet Lula’s Restaurant is a BYOB avant-garde unique Brunch and Dinner romantic cosy dining experience in Pitman, New Jersey. We won an award for our famous sweet potato sausage corn chowder. We are close to Rowan University.
We are family owned and operated by executive chef Anthony Asbury (a very famous Puppeteer) he has an Emmy displayed in the restaurant and has worked with Jim Henson and Steven Spielberg. We also play movies which we project onto a large screen which is very unique ! We are a free-flowing scratch kitchen plus veggie, vegan, and gluten-free friendly. Keep your eyes out for Chef Anthony's British wife, Lula (a previous famous pop star and Model in the 80s), she may be singing a few songs on Friday and Saturday nights. We open Thursday to Sunday for Dinner 5pm-9pm and Brunch Saturdays and Sundays 10am-3pm. Come try our food and see what everyone is talking about. Steak and Seafood is our speciality. I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long and unfortunately I was disappointed, pretty sure it will be my first and last time there. In the past I used to walk by and it would be PACKED. I got there and it was only us and two other tables on a theater night, I got concerned. Nice wait staff but inattentive. Very limited menu, I felt bad for my vegetarian friend and even offered to leave before ordering but she was a good sport and ordered the only vegetarian entree, the mushroom Alfredo. Side note yes there were salads but no everyone wants a salad for dinner. And even the butternut squash soup had chicken stock so that wasn’t an option either. Food came out looked good, but both me and my friend noticed our meals were bitter and almost sour (?) I had the crab and shrimp risotto. Between the two dishes the only shared ingredient was fresh parsley. We couldn’t figure out why our meals tasted the way it did. Nonetheless we had a show to catch, we didn’t bother taking over left overs. Will not return and do not recommend.

The food was just ok. The crab bites and chicken fingers, both breaded and fried, were over cooked.

Food was very good.. Actual service was good, just the waitress had zero personality and barely spoke to us till the very end.. She didn't even say hello or welcome us when she walked up to the table.. Very weird.

The food was very fresh & delicious! We went for the Thursday night Special! Our server Rose was very efficient! It was not our first time & will not be our last!

Our experience at Sweet Lula’s in Pitman, NJ was wonderful! Our server, Rosie, was great! She is friendly, and makes you feel as though you are her only customer. The warm rolls and butter are sometimes the reason I can’t fit in dessert, delicious! Main course was generous, and provided lunch the next day.

We loved it! Everything was wonderful! Our food was delicious . The service was great, and the whole expierence was really nice. There are many other entree selections that i cant wait to try, so I will be back soon!

You would think that if a restaurant is out of primary menu items, specials particularly, they would tell you that right out of the gate. After having to reselect our appetizers and meals two different times, I finally had to ask “what do you have?”. The answer drastically reduced their already limited menu. I wound up having to settle on crab & crab pasta because they were out of shrimp. Our food arrived quickly but mine was incorrect. It was supposed to be in a red sauce, but arrived in a white. Their answer to fixing this was to add red on top of the white. Fortunately I like white sauce and just decided to cut my losses and eat it. Needless to say, we won’t go back.

We recently dined at Sweet Lula’s on a Thursday evening to try their prix fix menu. Our meal was delicious and our server Rose was awesome. We hadn’t been to this restaurant for awhile but we loved the menu and everything we had was great. My shrimp scampi was delicious as was the Lula’s salad. My husband really enjoyed the chicken parm. Will definitely be back soon!
