Whatever the occasion, our team of Chefs relish the challenge of creating dishes that our diners will love every time they visit – whether you’re an old friend of The Sweeney or visiting us for the first time.

The Sweeney works continually with suppliers and local producers in Shropshire, Mid Wales and the surrounding areas to use only the best ingredients, always preferring to source locally where we can.

With a highly creative team we’re always designing new dishes for our ever-changing daily specials, creative event menus and special occasion feasts.

We had a selection of the small plates to share between the two of us. The waiter informed us which of the plates would be best for sharing and he had extensive knowledge of the menu and what each dish contained. The hotel was hosting a wedding and what looked like a large birthday party at the time but our food arrived timely, was hot and fresh and the staff were extremely attentive as if nobody else was there. It was a beautiful meal and the flavours were amazing - we cannot wait to go back again! Dessert was beautiful - affogato and panna cotta.

Perfect from the moment we were greeted at reception! A beautiful restaurant with food and service to match. My first visit to Sweeney, definitely not my last!

We are new to the area so asked for recommendations for a retirement meal for my Husband and The Sweeney was highly regarded. We visited on Saturday 31st August 2024 and were both really impressed by the location, the bar and restaurant, the food, the staff and the value. We will definitely return

Stunning choice for vegetarian, vegan and everything diets. Amazing main meals - some unexpected, but also trusted options. Fab choice of Tapas style small plates too - with the best vegan feta out there! Lovely feeling to the building and restaurant. Unreserved 100% recommendation from us 😁😁

Compared to similar style restaurants I felt the choices for main plates was limited. The dessert didn’t live up to my expectations (Rum Baba - it was very dry). The restaurant itself is lovely and has a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The waiters were polite and professional, but perhaps needed to smile a bit more.

We had a most enjoyable experience. Highlights were the popped burrata, salmon salad, and pannacotta. Service was friendly and attentive. One guest was vegan, and one vegetarian; all needs were catered for. Delightful ambience. We shall definitely come again, for lunch or dinner
