Proud to be one of the Gladwin Brothers' Local and Wild group of restaurants, we celebrate all that is wonderful about British ingredients and classic dishes.

Delicious food,friendly,personable,knowledgeable & efficient service from all of the members of staff who interacted with us.Nice decor & a calm and relaxing atmosphere.Can’t wait to return for a second visit.

I have been traveling to different countries in Europe for over 40 days and have tried many amazing restaurants. With that, I must say, Sussex was a gem among them all. They are doing everything right: the food, the ambience, the drinks, and the ambience. It is a little getaway from the hustle of the city.

Our second time here and a lovely Sunday lunch, roast sirloin of beef with all the trimmings we will return. A lovely friendly restaurant, good food and pleasant staff .

Great table for 6 by the window. We dined pre theatre and the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. Loved the savoury eclair starters. I had celeriac as my main and it was delicious. Great cocktails too.

Another chance to eat at this charming restaurant. We come here whenever we are in town meeting friends or enjoying the theatre and music venues nearby. I’m slowly working my way through the menu from the venison for Sunday lunch to the crab doughnut starter and the goat’s cheese I had on this visit. All delicious. Vegetarian options are far from being an afterthought and fish options are excellent. Atmosphere friendly and lovely service. Great cocktails - the vodka martini and Old Fashioned were spot on - and the house white was well priced.

Had a Sunday roast with my daughter and her partner. Food and service were excellent. The restaurant was very quiet on the day we went, which was surprising. The veggie options could be enhanced. That was half of our party. They essentially had the Sunday roast but without the meat.

An overall enjoyable dining experience with interesting dishes and a charming ambience. We particularly enjoyed the rhubarb cocktail as an aperatif. However, there were a few minor hiccups: Firstly, the table felt tacky to touch, likely due to cleaning spray residue. Additionally, while the staff were friendly and initially attentive, service slowed as the meal progressed. Furthermore, timing issues with the starters and wine tasting interrupted the flow of our meal, resulting in lukewarm starters upon our return from a brief absence. Nevertheless, the exceptional food and warm service make this restaurant worth revisiting.
