The quality of the food and sushi chef was great. However, $60 omakase as advertised is very misleading. The 12-course is set and not based on the freshest fish. The head chef is not even in attendance. You receive one piece per course that can only be described as the smallest pieces of sushi I’ve ever seen at an omakase experience. We basically paid $60 for what equates to one small sushi roll. They finish the experience about 40 minutes into your hour reservation and then wait around for you to order more because everyone is still hungry. One glass of sake is $14 minimum and the glass is minuscule. One hand roll is basically the size of a small cigar and costs between $14-25 for one. The bottle prices are exorbitant (minimum of $70). The waiter takes one drink order at the beginning and then does not check in even if your glass is empty until the end. We had to ask 3 times to pay our check even though there were only 8 people seated in the entire restaurant. We were the only ones who didn’t order more because we were so irritated and it still came out to $200 for two people with one drink each of the cheapest sake. The staff was not very knowledgeable when it came to food allergies and had to ask each other multiple times whether something had an allergen. The disco music was so loud you could barely hear the chef when they explained what course you were receiving. The disco decor looked very cheap and gimmicky. We left after 50 minutes feeling as if we were just robbed blind and went home to make our own sushi because we were still so hungry.

The experience was great, the host was very personable but not overbearing, and our chef Sean was very nice. Chef Sean was not only skilled, but also a good conversationalist, making the experience very fun. All of the staff was friendly and the vibes were great. If your looking for good Omakase experience in DC, this is a must try.

Had a great time at Sushi by Bou for the Omakase experience! All of the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The sushi was delicious. After our experience we sat outside and ordered more food and drinks, with nice views of the city. Would definitely go back!

Really great omakase! Everything was super fresh and delicious. The only down side…and it’s not a biggie, it felt like it was super quick. We were in and out in under an hour. For some, they might feel like they’d want a longer dining experience 🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway, would highly recommend, especially given the price point for awesome sushi!
