Surf Club is an understated throwback to comfortable coolness. Located below the Newport Bay Club, Surf Club exudes natural wood tones with marble accents. The space is high-lighted by the over 150 year old posts and beams. We have become widely known for our brick oven Neapolitan-style pizza.
Join us for a Pizza Class held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month!

Service and food mediocre. And after only 1 hour and 10 minutes into our reservation the hostess came to our table to hurry us up, telling us they had another reservation for the table in 20 minutes and since we already paid our bill, we should be aware of that, though I was still finishing a cocktail. We will not be going back to Surf House again.

We sat on the patio which was great on a nice evening. No water view. I had the tuna poke bowl and it was so good! The summer spritzer cocktail was a great balance of sweet and tangy. I took a picture to try to make it again.

I made a reservation over a month in advance for a large group of 8 people at 12pm. About two weeks prior to the reservation I called to add an additional person to our reservation. The woman on the phone was very kind and made the change for me and confirmed all details of the reservation. A few weeks later, we arrive Surf Club and are advised the inside is closed until 4pm. Expecting that we would be sitting outside, we go to the outside hostess. She advises we need to check inside, when I told her the inside was closed she was confused. We were then told they don’t take large parties but could try to sit us at two different tables. Being that this reservation was made over a month in advance and confirmed by an employee on the phone it’s extremely frustrating we were advised of this upon arrival. We stayed for a drink at the bar and left without our reservation.

Food and service were very good. It wasn’t a typical busy weekend night but the noise level made it tough to have a conversation amongst a table of 6.

Our waitress was so friendly and fantastic and the food and ambiance were outstanding. There was a DJ there for brunch and we loved the music!

We had been given a gift card and decided to celebrate our anniversary here. We made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday. First, the bad. We were warned by the hostess they had an event but "they should be leaving soon". It was a loud roar. Large group of people milling about a buffet. Our table was smack dab in the middle of the group. We were constantly bumped, and could not hear each other speak. I blame the party goers for not even trying to avoid the customers at high top tables. They were 6+ from us having lots of conversations with zero spatial awareness. If we didn't have a gift card we would have left. Another couple that came in to use the bar did so. It was not a pleasant atmosphere. They have a private party room. Other patrons were discussing the odd set up We couldn't watch the open kitchen due to the group and buffet. They cleared out about 35 min later. The good! The drink menu was a good size. While pricey, my drink was great. The food menu is small, but great selection of scratch made food. The Spicy Caesar Chicken Salad was fantastic. It was easily big enough for 2 adults to split it. It included 2 fresh baked bread sticks. Best dressing I've had. We ordered pizza; Chicken Bacon Ranch and Arugula & Prosciutto drizzled with honey. The crust was chewy and well baked in the brick oven. One alone could have been shared by 2 adults! We were so full by the end of our meal we skipped dessert. The dessert menu is small and mostly ice cream dishes. The value was great. Our $100 gift card more than covered our whole meal including tax. 1 mixed drink, 2 beers, large salad, 2 pizzas. For Newport it was a great value for the portions. We would return to this restaurant and give it another try. Hopefully, the large parties in the middle of the dining room is not the norm. As a Chef in a nearby hotel restaurant, I was baffled by the decision as other areas were available to host a large, loud, drinking group. OR don't seat people abutting the party
