My fiancé and I celebrated our anniversary at Sunda and it exceeded all our expectations. The food and service was great! We ordered the chicken bao buns, pad Thai, and sushi. All of it was amazing and we will definitely be returning!

I read other reviews about the noise level, but typical I don't mind and expect a lively place to be loud. But it was exceptionally loud... it must be the acoustics that just causes the voices to create a cacophony (I love that word but rarely get to use it so fittingly). After fifteen minutes we just settled into it, we weren't going to have a back and forth conversation. Really though, be prepared to shout or just mime your way through your evening. If your expectations are managed regarding noise levels, you'll enjoy this place. The ambience was very nice, modern and hip, the service was good. Our server neither ignored us or overly checked in. If we needed something, a simple look was all that was needed. Again, the noise level reduced the interaction we could have. The food was very good, with a wide variety to choose from. The lumpia egg rolls weren't our style, I'd skip that. The baked snow crab hand roll was devine!! That was one of our top bites. The adobo pork belly entree was good... it tasted more like a very tender pork chop than pork belly, which was a good thing. It could have used more seasoning though. Their non alcoholic cocktails were splendid. Very unique and fresh which is tough to find for mocktails. This was our first visit and while not the top of our food experiences in Chicago we will be back to try more! The menu is designed for sharing several plates. The benefit is you can order several items to try. The downside is the total for the bill may be more than you expect initially.

Asian small plates. Everything we chose was incredibly delicious. I want to go back and choose all different dishes because everything on the menu sounds amazing. Sushi was super fresh too! Friendly staff. Attentive but not over-imposing.

Lee was our server and he was extremely courteous and made our experience at Sunda even more memorable!! The food (love the Brussel Sprout Salad and the Baked Crab Handroll) and drinks (Strawberry Fields) were delicious! I do have food allergies and Lee was very attentive & cautious to be certain I was taken care of. We were also celebrating our Anniversary and Lee make our experience even more special and memorable!

Food was great! Service was great to start but kind of trailed off. And while it was a bustling Saturday night in Chicago, the music was SO loud. Like yelling at each other loud. I want to go back but not if it’s gonna be like that.

Food was honestly good but nothing crazy. Huge portions but they explain the restaurant is served family style.
