Inspired by a lifetime of culinary and culturally immersed travel throughout Southeast Asia, our owners developed the Sunda concept to celebrate the beautiful blend of cultures found on the Sunda Shelf, a landmass, today submerged under shallow seas, that was once surrounded by the many different countries and cultures we celebrate at Sunda today like Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, China and more.

At Sunda, we pride ourselves on taking classic, culturally-important dishes from all over this region and modernizing each one by upgrading ingredients, cooking techniques and presentation to create a tasting experience that is completely new while still retaining the deep-rooted spirit of the original.

Guests can also enjoy a beverage program that offers an impressive list of premium sakes, Asian beers, red, white and sparkling wines as well as seasonally inspired cocktails.

Celebrate Filipino American History Month at Sunda with an immersive and interactive culinary event! Experience an island-style Kamayan Feast highlighting the vibrant foods of the Philippines like Adobo Pork Belly, Crispy Pata, Chicken Inasal, Grilled Garlic Shrimp, and more, served on a banana leaf with jasmine rice, fresh fruit, and dipping sauces. Kamayan feast will take place at 6:30 pm. Enjoy a private screening of FOOD ROOTS before or after your Kamayan Feast, with viewings at 5:15 pm and 7:30 pm (please select your screening time above). FOOD ROOTS is a documentary following Emmy winner and Sunda owner Billy Dec, exploring Filipino cuisine and family secrets in his mother's native islands of the Philippines. Tickets are limited!

Fantastic customer service, incredible ambience. Ordered the oxtail potstickers, lumpia, bulgogi tacos and crab garlic noodles. Lovely food presentation, but the food wasn’t flavorful. Certainly not bad, just decent. Ambience alone makes for a great date night spot.

The ambience, the place, the people are great. But the food is not, unfortunately. I remember, we,d been to Sunda by River North maybe 10-12 years ago and I wander why we never come back… and the answer is …. their food is not good enough for you to say.. that ‘I am coming back’. Maybe if I’m with friend and just order a appetizer and a drink it’s worth cuz I love their place in Fulton Market!

The table assigned was next to the wall to the right of the bar. And it smelled like sewer. It was next to an outside window. The waiter also took like 20 minutes to bring his second cocktail!

Been going to Sunda river north for over 15 years and food is exceptional. West loop food is average at best. I’ve had better sushi rolls from a grocery store.

The staff is fantastic, particularly the maître d’, Lily, who made the experience more enjoyable. The drinks were excellent, but the food fell short, even considering the reasonable price. The lighting could be warmer and dimmer to create a cozier atmosphere. The pacing of the meal felt rushed, especially for an early evening reservation. Overall, while the food was decent, it wasn’t memorable. I’d recommend stopping by for a drink at the bar, but perhaps skip dinner to save your money

We have been going to Sunda since it opened way back in Chicago years ago and still love going. The new location in Fulton Market Chicago is amazing. The staff where helpful and friendly, the food amazing. We did find it a little hard to hear each other as it was loud but the beautiful cocktails helped sort that problem out lol.

Incredible service and overall experience. Leo our server was outstanding, he recommended great dishes and made the experience very enjoyable. We’ll definitely come back!
