Sun Moon Studio is a farmer and producer-driven restaurant in West Oakland by Chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper.

We offer a multi-course tasting menu for $150 per person in our intimate 4 table dining room. An optional beverage pairing is available for $90 per person.The focus of our menu is to highlight the bounty of local producers and farmers through the lens of our life experiences.

We are happy to adjust our menu to dietary restrictions, but require advanced notice. Please let us of your party's dietary restrictions when making a reservation so we may plan for your arrival.

Wow! What an amazing experience at Sun Moon Studio. The space is intimate - with great music and ambiance, and the service is excellent. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly portioned, and each course was exceptional. We added the drink pairing which took it all to another level. Stay persistent in grabbing a reservation! We can’t recommend it enough.

I am very fortunate to be able to have supported these restauranteurs and what they are pursuing - including their commitment to sustainability and local growers, harvesters and labor. Part of the story is that these things are not always inexpensive and therefore the notion and experience of occasion is embedded in the ethos. The room is pretty but not over the top. The limited number of tables make it convivial but not overwhelming. The music made me snicker a bit - for Bay Area peeps think KFOG. But it was background enough so no prob if not your jam. The service is very well timed to bring the various courses out would good pacing. All hands on deck including the chefs. For my taste a bit too much water filling and checking in but not tragic. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable. Others are writing plenty on the food and it is praiseworthy indeed. No worries of leaving satiated on all levels. Nothing below an A- and I appreciate that they are always experimenting. This means it will be worth coming back! They can accommodate pretty much any dietary restrictions with aplomb - and enough notice.

The entire experience at Sun Moon Studio was amazing and not to be missed. Exceptionally delectable food created with top notch ingredients and exquisitely prepared and presented. This is an experience you must not miss.

Exceptional food. Excellent service. Kind engaged staff and owners. A wonderful dining adventure that it convenient and intimate. Delightful! Our 2nd visit was every bit as special as the first.

Getting a reservation at Sun Moon Studio was a real challenge, but after a few weeks of trying we finally snagged one, and it was well worth the effort. The restaurant is intimate and elegant, with only four tables, and gives a feeling of being in a cozy, secretive, and exclusive space. The food was delicious, creative, and beautifully presented. Our favorites were the egg custard tart with salmon roe, Taiwanese sausage on a brioche bun, salt and pepper butterkin squash, and Stemple Creek pork chop. Service was prompt and efficient throughout the evening and Alan and Sarah came by the table numerous times to present courses as well. At the end of the main course, we were offered a complimentary basket of French fries (supposedly Alan’s favorite). We were each gifted individually wrapped, homemade olive cake as we were getting ready to depart, . Alan and Sarah waited by the door to thank us for dining there. It was such a wonderful dining experience and we look forward to returning for another scrumptious meal.

Absolutely incredible. The very best meal and dining experience we've had in many, many years (and we've eaten all over SF, Napa, and Oakland.) Everything was perfection from the food to the drinks to the service to the ambience. The food was sublime, the service was warm, attentive and on point, the portions were perfect, and the beverages were creative. The setting is cozy and intimate yet still very upscale and clean. We especially appreciated the two fun surprises at the end of the meal—I won't ruin the surprise by sharing here, you'll have to go and see for yourself ;-) An extra thoughtful touch was getting a follow-up message from the chefs the next day. Felt like a friend who was checking in with us after a great night out. Overall it was a 10/10 experience for us and we cannot wait to go back. Already looking forward to next time!
