Had reservations so walked right in and were seared. The young man that took care of our table was great. Very attentive and informative about the food. Owner came by several times and had a conversation about different items also. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner even tho it was a full house. Deserts to die for!! We will definitely be back!

Sugo Italian is the best Italian you will eat in the south. From the walk in to walk out experience the servers put you first, are open to hear what you have to order or question or any concerns, and they stay hard working the whole time and love to be there, thank you Christian and Brandon for bringing Sugo to Tuscaloosa

Nice atmosphere. It’s a rather loud restaurant by virtue of old building structure. There are no soft surfaces to absorb the noise. Food was good - just too much sauce and spice. Everything I’ve had (4 dishes) seems way over the top with flavors at battle. Too much red/purple onion or pesto or sauce……. Salads are served at an additional charge with most orders. (The side salad is waaaay too big. It needs to be half the size and served on the same size plate). Tiramisu is to die for. Large enough serving that you should split with the table next to you. The food value is ok - add a glass or two of wine (great wine list) to your meal ticket, tip and you’ve dropped $100 on dinner for one. It’s a good restaurant with a nice selection of entrees. They are working their butts off to make it a great dining experience, and I’m certainit is for some, it’s just not going to be my go to. Perhaps I’ll just order apps and wine the next time. One last thing - napkins! They serve with paper, which no matter what you order you’ll need additional -which are still not enough. They absolutely need fabric napkins! The owner Christian is doing a great job of being all things to all people. He’s young, passionate and truly a sweetheart of a guy. This is his first restaurant run although he’s been in the industry in some form or fashion his entire life. His chef Brandon is seasoned and between two of them they are dynamic. SUGO is still working through some new establishment bumps but a sold restaurant choice. Everyone definitely needs to try it. Staff, servers are welcoming and wanting to make it a good experience. It’s like eating in Italy - you don’t just run in for a bite, you enjoy the evening meal as an event.

Our second visit and again the food was good. The service has been great both times. We found the pork dish with polenta was perfectly prepared, but on the salty side. Our Pasta Balsamica was tasty, but could have benefited from more balsamic vinegar. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it was really good. Love the arrabbiata sauce that comes with it.

They handled a surprise party very well and kept everything as organized as possible, my only complaint is that it took awhile to get our food, but we also had a big party/group so that could be the reason for the long wait.

Food was salty and something we could make at home. Service was amazing and we loved our waitress. The food was overpriced and not high quality, we both could not finish it. We will not come back.

We wanted to go have a nice dinner as a family so we tried Sugo for the first time and were not disappointed. Our waitress was the absolute sweetest, the food was really good, and the environment overall was nice! Definitely will be going back!

First time trying as it is a new restaurant. Kitchen was busy so we waited about 1:15 from ordering till the food arrived. However this long wait was worth it. Everything we ate was awesome. Left more than stuffed than a thanksgiving dinner. Would 100% go again and probably will within a month. Only downside was that the kitchen was so slammed that they didn’t let our server know they were out of steak that we ordered an hour prior. Going to chalk that up to being new and the staff gaining experience. Glad a GREAT Italian/Mediterranean restaurant is in town.
