Welcome to Sugarbird Cafe, Montrose, CA's unique scone and tea cafe.
Nestled in a cozy, shaded outdoor courtyard, it's the perfect spot for casual tea under the Cali sun, with limited indoor seating for a more intimate vibe. Variety of scones, from classic strawberry buttermilk to unique Cali-inspired flavors like fig rosemary, all perfectly crunchy outside and moist inside. Elevate your tea experience with our handcrafted teas, delightful tea sandwiches, and house-made jams. Please note, we need 36 hours advance notice for special dietary requests for wheat-free, vegan, or kids menu, 10 & under. 18% gratuity is auto-included on the bill & parties of 6 or more will have a 20% charge.

Come relax in our charming outdoor courtyard and enjoy a casual tea service under the ginkgo trees. Our menu includes two mini scones, house-made vanilla clotted cream, strawberry thyme jam, and mini seasonal sweets: fruit tart, fresh fruits, meringue, seasonal fruit pâte de fruit, matcha white chocolate blondie bites, and brownie bites. No tea sandwiches are included for this menu option. Perfect for sunny days, or use your reservation credit if it rains. Price of $42 per person includes tax and 18% gratuity. Split charge: $7. For changes or no-shows day of, a $25 fee per person applies if not notified by 5 PM the day before via text at 818-282-7299.

Enjoyed the creative seasonal sandwiches, which are a bit unconventional. However, should add back the egg salad. The extra bonus (mini breakfast quiche) was delicious. Cost is a bit pricier than other tea rooms. Tea selection is a limited .

Afternoon tea is well worth the price! It includes a great variety and will fill you up. They offer unique flavors and seasonal options for their scones. The inside is small and consist of two table, but the outdoor area serene despite being on the main road. The trees outside provide a great amount of shade to keep you cool. Everything was very delicious.

We had a great experience doing afternoon tea outside with our dog. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the scones were yummy!!

This place is cozy, sophisticated, and overall just lovely! The Playlist is fantastic and the service *chef's kiss*! Love the strawberry time jam and clotted cream as well as the Mila tea!

Sugarbird Cafe provided my husband and me a delightful afternoon tea experience from start to finish. The table was wonderfully set like a floral bouquet. The selection of delicious tea sandwiches were unique and different from most tea houses. While the selection of teas could be expanded, we were able to choose something tasty. The scones were the highlight, with MANY different sweet and savory flavors to tempt us. The small dessert bites were varied, and were the perfect complement to the tea experience. We cannot wait to go back.

My sister and I had an excellent experience at Sugarbird Cafe. The tea selection is fantastic and the tea service was terrific. It is enjoyable to try new combinations of flavors. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive!

Best variety of scones I've ever had at a Tea. Very pretty outside, the indoors is a bit small, so would only sit there based on inclement weather. Montrose is a cute city so it was worth the drive. Perhaps in the future they can expand their tea menu to include a few other varieties. Overall, I'm really glad my daughter & I tried this place.

My daughter and I enjoy trying out new tea places a and Sugarbird is in our top 3. Food/tea was wonderful, ambience was great and the customer service was the best. I would definitely recommend it. We even bought more scones and cream cheese to go.

So happy to have a new tea place available! Providing an afternoon tea experience in the LA area is difficult, as we have seen establishments come and go. The scones and other food was wonderful with our pre-paid afternoon tea. The setting outside was perfect with exception of some occasional traffic. Please support Sugarbird Cafe!
