Succotash PRIME is a progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award winner Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern Steakhouse menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

    Party of 5. Adequate service but on the slow side. All appetizers and sides were great but every entree was mediocre and the chicken & waffles was overcooked.

    Our waiter was attentive. The fried green tomato dish was very good. Ask for the buttermilk dressing on the side. The shrimp and grits were edible but not great.The grits were too wet. It was like a grit soup with 5 shrimp and a few Parmesan crisps. I did like the addition of the crisps. Drinks were good and the old bank building is attractive. I would be willing to try again.

    Amazing experience all around! Food was fab, service was fantastic, and the ambiance was such a great vibe. Would 100% recommend, esp the ribs, mac and cheese, and hummingbird cake!

    Beware and don’t be fooled. This is a prime example of a has been restaurant. Most of the entrees do NOT come with sides but they’ll ask you “ and which side would you like” as if it does without telling you. Known for their steak…I asked for medium rare and mine was well done and the taste was basic at best. Succotash we got was good but way too much butter and salt and tuna tar tar was just about fine. I don’t mean to be harsh- but this restaurant is basic with a capital B.

    I took my wife to Succotash PRIME for our 18th wedding Anniversary dinner. I wanted to have a different dining experience from the casual dining that is typically offered in the Fredericksburg area. Upon arriving to Succotash, we were greeted by smile after smile. The place was busy with the day's busy banter and work stories. The smells were intoxicating; butter, grilled steak, roasted chicken, and for those that are in "the know," that homecooked smell of greens that mamaw used to make. We were seated on the second floor and Omar was quick to meet us with a wine and dinner menu. I had simple water (DD) and she had a glass of wine. I order the shrimp and grits that were just divine. To the palate, buttery, flavorful, creamy. An amazing balance of salty and sweet, with the right amount of crunch from the cheese crisp. PERFECTO! My wife ordered the Gluten Free Crusted Catfish. Again, perfectly cooked. Flaky, not even close to greasy. She also ordered the creamy succotash (house special), the fried green tomato salad which was out of this world, and we both agreed on a side of collard greens with country ham (remember that smell i mentioned). Lastly, we ordered 3 bacon jam deviled eggs and 3 dill eggs. There is enough room on this review to sit and talk about everything. This place is truly an experience. Chef Edward Lee has an amazing gift. The pricing of the dishes, across the board are acceptionally modest compared to other BIB Gourmand Recipients. For us, this place is a 10 out of 10.

    The best grits and gravy ever. My table had the BBQ ribs, Delta vegetarian bowl, catfish, and chicken & waffles - everything was terrific. The cornbread and cauliflower starters were great. Love our evening here.

    I have visited this restaurant several times and had excellent experience every time. This is one place that has consistent high quality service, food and atmosphere for all occasions that I treat it as a "Go To" place.
