Succotash PRIME is a progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award winner Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern Steakhouse menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

The food and drinks are great, but we made a reservation and still had to wait 15+ minutes, and we were told once we sat down that the happy hour was not available in that section, which was not specified on the website, on the menu, or anywhere else.

Amazing venue with superb, professional wait staff (thx Tram!) and tasty menu. We appreciate the effort and goal of a wonderful dining experience, and Succotash did not disappoint, even while maintaining a reasonable price point. The fried chicken had a simple but well-seasoned batter, not over fried, and the greens were tart but well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Add the chocolate pecan pie…. Oh my. Our spoiled Southern selves cleared our plates and enjoyed every bite. Amazing!

The deviled eggs was good and creamy. The hush puppies was okay. Grits and gravy was not the best. It had a sour taste and not seasoning. I order the Cobb salad but didn’t eat it there. The waitress was the best. She was very courteous and it time with our starters and entrees.

It was great! Brian was our waiter and was very nice, attentive, and was easy to talk to. He had great recommendations on food and drinks! The food was very enjoyable, and the cocktails hit the spot for the fall (their take on the old fashion had a honey flavor and the cactus rose has a touch of cinnamon but it wasn’t overbearing and it was great for the fall). The sides were so delicious (the smashed potatoes and corn) and we can’t wait to have the leftovers!

We ordered a side dish (watermelon and fried peanuts) as an appetizer. It was sweet and refreshing; it would have made a fine dessert. For the entree, my petit sirloin was cooked as I ordered (the peppercorn gravy was delicously spicy) and my date's seafood dish was flavorful, correctly cooked, and hot. We ordered a side of the kallette -- of course, anything fried is tasty. Our waiter, Collin, was friendly and helpful and kept our water glasses topped off. The tile floors and high ceilings meant a lot of sound-carry, too much so. Our corner table buffetted some of that noise.

Our server, Angel, was the friendliest, incite full and helpful we’ve had in a long time. The food was way there and lived up to our expectations.

Overall, the food was pretty good. They didn't have the wine we ordered off the wine list forcing a last-second change, and the pre-dinner service at the bar was poor -- more like 2 stars. Table service was excellent. Would I go back? No. Was a sorry I went? Not really.

Very accommodating for my two groups. We were able to be seated together, which was very appreciated. Fantastic service and food was outstanding. We also got some insight into the history of the building which was great for our group that had traveled in from across the country. If I am back in DC I will definitely come back! Thanks for a great experience and outstanding customer service from every member of your staff we interacted with.
