Our menu harks back to pre-Covid times, when food was made from scratch, using fresh ingredients, and cooked by qualified chefs. Head Chef Simon Burgess specializes in pizza, pasta, and risotto, but is pretty excited about most culinary areas! The rest of the culinary team, Shanice, James, Bart, and Lisa work alongside Simon, to prepare pizzas, pastas, risottos, burgers, steaks, salads, and Spanish tapas for your enjoyment.

This is the third time I’ve eaten at Strays and the service as always was great. Their new staff members are really knowledgeable of the menu and couldn’t be more helpful. The food came out quickly and was delicious and we enjoyed listening to the jazz band whilst we nattered. Looking forward to going back. Thank you

Fantastic venue, best coffee in town plus lovely food, very helpful and friendly staff and lovely outside seating area with views over the castle and river. We probably come for morning coffee or evening meal (with excellent live music) every week or two and it never disappoints.

The meal was great, they had some choices on the menu which had run out but plenty to choose from. Friendly, helpful staff. Good music

Really great service and made us very welcome. Had thought through accessibility for people in Wheelchairs, which made for a relaxed evening.

I attended a musical gig at Stray's on July 6, 2024. As usual, the service and the performance were both first-class. I have ticked "Outstanding" for the food, although, in fact, I didn't dine there, I never dine out anywhere these days, but my response would have been null and void without ticking all boxes.

Nice venue very well laid out, the music was good and not too loud. A good selection of pizzas and calzone, my wife said it would be nice if there were a few more pasta options, very reasonable food and drink prices. It was quite quiet when we went in at 19:45, not sure if this was to do with the football earlier, but given it was quiet I would’ve expected a faster table service and food cook time. I’m not sure how long we would’ve waited had they been very busy! Staff were however, very polite and friendly, overall we were happy with the visit and will return in the future.

We enjoy our visits to Strays very much. Sometimes it can be a little disappointing when they run out of certain dishes and the choices are a little limited. On our last visit we were unable to choose a pasta dish but we were very happy with the pizzas which are much better now with extra topping. The music is always good but sometimes gets lost in the room especially when the restaurant is full of people chatting. We are very happy that we have a restaurant/coffee shop like Strays and will definitely continue to support them.
