Our menu harks back to pre-Covid times, when food was made from scratch, using fresh ingredients, and cooked by qualified chefs. Head Chef Simon Burgess specializes in pizza, pasta, and risotto, but is pretty excited about most culinary areas! The rest of the culinary team, Shanice, James, Bart, and Lisa work alongside Simon, to prepare pizzas, pastas, risottos, burgers, steaks, salads, and Spanish tapas for your enjoyment.

We enjoy our visits to Strays very much. Sometimes it can be a little disappointing when they run out of certain dishes and the choices are a little limited. On our last visit we were unable to choose a pasta dish but we were very happy with the pizzas which are much better now with extra topping. The music is always good but sometimes gets lost in the room especially when the restaurant is full of people chatting. We are very happy that we have a restaurant/coffee shop like Strays and will definitely continue to support them.

Having been to strays at the old place where the service and food was great we were excited to try the new venue but were v disappointed. It was a special occasion Father’s Day. Really slow drinks service then were told 20 mins later they had run out of the beer we had ordered. Ordered another beer which had aldo run out . Poor communication between staff . Got the order wrong brought out alcoholic cider instead of 0 percent non alcaholic ( good job this was noticed)by the driver Poor food my sisters salad had lettuce leaves that were slimey and wilted and still covered in soil. We told one waitress this and she went away but nothing was done. The second waitress did offer a free drink but this was after we had all eaten. Puddings were ordered but again told they were all sold out The redeeming factor was the music which was good This was disappointing as it was a special event for Father’s Day .

Ambiance good, entertainment always very good. Unfortunately, due to staff shortage the service wasn’t as good as we usually experience. Overall though we had a very nice evening.

Delightful evening. The table was exactly what we requested. The staff were very helpful and discreet. Food was excellent, I had the risotto verde, it was as good as any I had in Italy. The band were great, lovely to dine with live music.

I'm unable to comment on the food, as I don't eat out these days and have never eaten at Stray's. I'd gone there, as I always do when this particular trio are on, to see a jazz trio, Fiona Stein, Andy Tytherleigh and Pat McCarthy, who were superb, as ever. I had a couple of inexpensive beers during the gig, and the service was prompt, courteous and friendly. I only ticked four stars in the food box as I could not otherwise continue. But obviously, Stray's has expanded in every sense: physical space, including an external terrace, a much wider food and drinks menu, more sophisticated cooking range, more staff. Judging by its business (in the sense of busy-ness) whenever I've been, it seems to be popular and flourishing. And the live music is always of a very high standard.
